That in itself is a microcosm of what I’m talking about.
Not stopping hooters per se, but stopping any business that they don’t deem to be savory. It’s no hate on them, they are doing what they do, but it’s a turn off for businesses who don’t want to have to acquiesce to them.

Heard last night at a NYE party that the office he WAS building is 8 million in construction cost. Damn thing is massive and on high visibility street next to The Lake District. No way he recovers from this.

What specifically has POA done to stop “progress”? The only thing I ever heard is they didn’t want a Hooters to open in town.
It’s just something people say around here with no actual examples as to how they supposedly accomplish it.

Big question is whether there’s a prenup.
And if there is, I wonder if she gets by it via a civil suit against him for the injuries and abuse. You generally can’t sue your spouse but there may be an exception for DV.

POA has never stopped a business opening in Ellic. Don’t listen to that dumbass Odysseus. He is just repeating the same shite every other anti religious poster says
Example 1

I think they are a scapegoat when the real issue is the ghetto-ness and good ole boys that run the town. In the last 5-10 years a brewery has opened and is thriving - Huckleberry Brewery. Other bars and daquiri spots have opened. Even across the river, Pineville, isn’t dry anymore.

Even then I can’t blame them from not wanting a ratchet restaurant like Hooters from opening but it would be goofy as hell to think they are preventing a non trashy industry or business from opening its doors.

The big chain restaurants survey an area before committing to investing. They look at demographics, average income, crime, number of homes, etc to get an idea of the customer base and more importantly, the workforce. These are the reasons some businesses won’t even consider Alexandria…it isn’t because of the Pentecostals.
Even the Chick Fil A in Alexandria is struggling to maintain product quality and customer service, and it’s because they can’t get good help.

Yeah this makes a lot of sense. Alexandria has the same problem the whole state does and that’s severe brain drain. Unless you’re going home to work for a family business most people go to college and don’t move back. That leaves you a large population of hood rats and redneck bumpkins. I enjoyed growing up there for the most part but couldn’t see myself moving back

The Chick-fil-A that was so busy during lunch that they had to buy the closed Piccadilly building just so they could tear it down and make it their drive-thru because of the traffic cluster it was causing before? Hmmm

and I only went there for sixth grade.
As far as the POA keeping Hooters out, that has been going around for years. Have no idea if it is true or not.

Meh, maybe so but the building he is building is on Versailles. The Lake District is close but the reason he built there is because all the other places in Alex absolutely suck. Alexandria could be nice but to many people either are in their feelings or just pieces of shite. Very few of us who actually give a shite.

What a load of shite about Hooters. Especially after Buc-ees bolted from EBR because of their level of grift (and of all St George)
