From a marketing standpoint, if a business gets their employees to say something that's not generic.. Something customers will remember and go out and tell their friends (its almost like word of mouth advertisement) then I think its can be a + for business.

But if a business requires its employees to say something generic, then eventually the tone of the employees will not match the words. When I had a job in which the phone calls we received were from the public, we were asked to say our department name and if we remember say "thank you for calling", but there wasn't a word for word message we had to say.

When someone is busy, their tone seems to slightly different than if they are expecting a call or they are not that busy.. So if someone, who is busy, has to answer the phone by saying some generic message, it just would not work.. It would probably sound like a run on sentence said faster than usual "thank you for calling business we hope you are having a wonderful day and hopefully we can make it even better by helping you" opposed to "Thank you for calling business. We hope you are having a wonderful day! And hopefully, we can make it even better by helping you!"

Next time you are in KC make it a point to go to Gates BBQ. The moment you step foot through the door someone behind the counter yells "Hi, May I help you?"

It's why I only peruse car lots on Sunday's, I can look freely without rapid vultures running to me. I look at the vehicles and then compare info with prices online. I bought a new GMC Acadia and did 90% of the work via text and computer. Came straight in and signed with the finance guy.

I can recal one time pulling through a lot and I got out to just look inside an SUV and I saw out the corner of my eye a salesman coming so I took off and he started running towards me lol.

Kind of different than the greeting, but at Chick Fila where they say "my pleasure" after everything. Idk why, but it weirds me out from time to time
