Nope but they have to try everything that is fixed

I think the point here is that people are giving their kids portion sizes that are too big, and still expecting them to eat all of it.
That's an incredibly stupid point, due to the fact that it is based on 100% assumptions.

No, actually I didn't

I never had to eat everything on my plate but I did have to eat what was cooked or else I could make myself a peanut butter sandwich or something. I have friends who let their 5 year olds dictate what dinner will be or cook 3 different meals, 1 for the adults, 1 for the older kid and 1 for the younger kid. frick that. A lot of parents cater to the kids nowadays and we wonder why they're all spoiled brats.

however, unless there is a stiff wind in the dining room, he is correct

no but my dad always had this thing about taking what you can eat. basically, just take a smaller portion, finish it, and then get more if necessary. this way, you dont mess up the leftovers and have a bit of respect (probably not the right word) for the food and efforts by mom. wasnt a bad plan. didnt get in trouble for taking too much, just a "come on, i woulda eaten that for lunch tomorrow, be smart."

smart man. I hate seeing people to the opposite and fill a second plate, take two bites, and then they are full.

No but if they dont they wont get anything else to eat until that plate is clean

Parents didn't necessarily make us clean our plates, but they taught us portion sizes. If we took more than we could eat, dad would put it in the fridge. My sister was the worst offender. Inevitably she would fill her plate, not finish it and be hungry two hours later. She ate many leftovers for late night snacks and breakfast until she learned.

I always took the sleep when tired/eat when hungry approach.
