I would have zero tolerance for a healthy pet ruining my house. Sounds like the only answer is to crate the dog when you are not home and able to watch him. And do your best to remove that smell/markings.

I love animals but sometimes the stress and damage they cause is a lot. A friend right now has a dog peeing/pooping in the house and its affecting her marriage. I keep my mouth shut but there is ONE answer to me there.

You can't do some general overall test that covers everything a dog might have.

If they ran bloodwork and values were normal they may not have done additional workup. But that doesnt mean something isnt underlying or that those same values have changed in the last 3 months.

3 months to them is not the same as 3 months in our life cycle.

Leave him outside where they belong.

It's really that simple. When I was growing up just about all my friends and extended family had a dog and I can only remember a couple of them that let the dog inside the house other than when the weather got real cold or a bad storm was coming.

The only dogs I can recall being inside most of the time were those little nervous ankle snappers that older folks tended to have as pets.

People today treat a dog like it's a kid, often going as far as to take them damn near everywhere they go.

You gotta get the urine smell out of the house as soon as possible. You may not be able to smell it but they can.

Get you a bottle of Nature's Miracle spray or there are other urine odor remover sprays on the market. Saturate the spot with spray. Dogs are always going to sniff for urine before they pick a spot to pee.

I agree it should have but they missed it somehow until it was too late. the vet that missed it was our old vet, and the new one caught it, but caught it too late

pray ammonia on the spot where he is Peeing. He has marked his territory and is returning each time continue marking s. The ammonia smell will eliminate/mask his odor.

Unfortunately this is a common example of why the "old school" or "coutnry vet" isnt always the best option.

agreed - funny thing is, the vet we went to is a pretty popular and bigger vet in Birmingham, and the vet that caught it was a smaller vet (comparatively) out where we moved to. was thankful for the 7+ years we had with her, but was nowhere near enough - miss that damn dog

For your sake I hope it's behavioral.

Dealt with this in the past and known others and the outcome wasn't great. Cushing's (long test process requiring multiple blood draw over a day), diabetes should be ruled out with a fructosamine test that looks at glucose levels over multiple weeks or tumors pushing on internal organs.
