Always remember getting off at Hwy 47 / Paris Rd. and driving to the levee. We fished, boiled crabs, water ski'd, and had a great time never feeling threatened.
It was awesome, except for 1 thing…… carrying all your shite up the levee, lol

Spring Lake subdivision?
Man, I think that's the one. Memory is a little blurry on this, but I think that's the one.

Google Maps (older dates) satellite street view is great.
I barely ever spent time in Little Woods but I thought I remembered dropping a friend off at his family's camp there, once or twice, like 30 years ago. This thread got me thinking: "Where the hell was that again?"
I remembered there were a couple sets of concrete steps on the grass levee that lead to the camps. Probably fairly close to Lincoln Beach on Haynes Blvd. But when I used Google Maps to look for the area, it didn't look right.
I was really confused and was about to ask here. I knew for sure it was somewhere between NOE and highway 90/Chef. But I couldn't remember/find any other area where camps would have been on the other side of a levee. I was wracking my brain until I decided to turn back time to see if maybe I was correct all along and it was just the landscape had changed.
Maybe my memory isn't as bad as I feared.

There were steps like that every 500 yards or so. There were camps there, before 1998, that you could ALMOST walk from Lakefront Airport all the way to the end of Hayne Boulevard from camp to camp.
In 1998 Georges destroyed all but six.
Katrina took them all. The levee along Hayne was modified, a concrete wall tops the levee, now. Most of the stairs are gone.
