If you like beer there are a ton of great breweries in the Twin Cities, Madison (general area) and, to a lesser extent, Milwaukee.

Karben 4
Next Door
Vintage
When I visited the Twin Cities, my cousin took me to a couple tap rooms there and for the most part they were really good. We went to Indeed and I think Dangerous Man.

Tourist traps are there for a reason. Bourbon st is a tourist trap but a noob shouldnt visit New Orleans without seeing bourbon st.
