Damn, did y'all see how fast that gator moved once it was on land. That poor lady never had a chance.

Isn't it known that some of these bodies of water in Florida are gator infested? If so, how are people still taking a leisurely stroll near the water like that.

He was probably dealing with a 3-4’ gator too. He wasn’t gonna boss an 8’ or bigger gator.

frick those big lizards. Way too many in the world and it’s only gonna get worse. Need an open season year round on them. Kill at will and no limits.

Happens in Florida a lot. Happened once in the last 160 years in Louisiana. Odd.

Your right. Sadly the BEST case scenario is that it rips your arm or leg off and you can get away and stop the bleeding. Once one that big clamps down only a bullet to the brain will stop them.

Louisiana has more alligators in the state than Florida does but most of them are confined to the spillways, basin, and swamps where not many people live. Florida has 17 million more people and people live amongst the alligators.

That poor woman but she should’ve known better. The residents knew there was a gator in there. They even had a nickname for it. Yet she still walks the dog right by the water. I never walk my dog near water unless it’s at the beach.

frick all that. I’m the fricking apex predator. These animals have lost their fear of man because we’ve been too tolerant and tried to coexist with them. This is the result. Start slaughtering these big lizards again and they’ll regain their healthy dose of fear. As it should be

The woman calling 911 telling them to hurry and then it's too late is what does it for me. Like either you can help, or you can't. Said she tried to throw her a pole. Ain't shite 911 with a 30 minute response time doing for granny being drug around the bottom of a lake.

Yeah ok baw, make sure you refrain from contacting emergency services the next time you see someone eaten alive by a wild animal in a residential area

Alligators are not endangered and they are more than a nuisance if they are killing people.

That’s all I’m saying.

It’s warmer and they’ve been mandating more retention lakes in developments for longer. Basically they build homes for gators right next to grandma.

There was a kid killed at Disney by an alligator not too long ago.

It isn’t the alligators fault. I feel awful for this woman and her family as I know all to well what losing multiple family members feels like. However, if you go swimming in the ocean, you run the risk of being bitten by shark. You walk hors dourves by an alligator infested pond, you run the risk of an alligator attack.

We have a house with a lagoon in the back filled with 4-5 alligators, 2 of which are about 2-3ft, one 8-1 ft, 1 3 ft, and 1 10-11 footer. My kids aren’t even allowed in the backyard near the lagoon. I’ve seen a dog get eaten by one before and one person was killed when they slapped another gators tail.

Again, you play with fire, you might get burned.

Always Florida
I think we get so many transplants down here mostly from the Northeast that they are not raised knowing that pretty much any body of water will contain at least one Gator. I grew up in Louisiana and i can remember shining a spotlight over any lake or bayou in the middle of the night and having so many sets of gators eyes reflecting back that i knew just because it looks safe doesnt mean it is. Dont think all these transplants here have that burned in their memories.

Why was she walking her dog right at the water's edge when they knew a big gator was present? It even had a nickname! Terrible, but a complete lack of awareness.

I think Louisiana has a size limit they're allowed to reach before extermination.

It's a good idea.
