I used to live an hour from there and my wife lived there for about 5 years and its where we met.
Loads of bars and restaurants. I suggest Your's Sports Bar downtown. Its an Australian/Irish place. Great food selection and everyone speaks English( Like most the city)
The mall downtown is pretty awesome. Its not a mall in the American way. Most European malls are just an outdoor strip of stores. There is the gallery mall which is a huge American style mall but its on the outskirts of the city but closer to the airport.
Tons of places to eat and drink downtown, can't remember the names of most of them but you really can't go wrong.

Frankfurt
hahaha not at all.
The red light district isn't rough, it just looks like a red light district. Frankfurt is a clean and safe city.

Thanks I was doing it of memory from 2013. Also, you're welcome for the opportunity to showcase your German by saying auf!

Frankfurt is an OK town, but not a tourist destination. It is a travel hub and business/financial center, so not a lot of touristy things. Heidelberg is a pretty town as suggested and a good way to spend the day.
Wine country is my favorite since that is where I live, but the weather is crap right now and the vineyards are dormant so it isn't very pretty.
You could also consider Speyer which has an amazing cathedral and good beer garden across the street. If you want to see the Rhine and have a rental car, head west / northwest toward St. Goar and Boppard. Great castles every mile along the steep part of the Rhine valley.

Drink lots of beer. The beer in Germany is second only to the beer in Belgium.
ETA: If you do get drunk, don't do anything stupid. The Polizei will give you a Frankfurt party hat in a heartbeat.

For the most part. Late at night middleeasterns tend to hang out in groups on the corners. Also, keep in mind when enjoying the strip clubs, do not talk or cut up while the chick is on stage dancing. They take that as an insult that you are not interested in them. We found this out when the chick kept stomping her foot on stage telling us to hush. She stood over in front of my brother, then dropped her panties, plucked some pubic hair and dropped it in his beer. We fell out laughing and decided we better GTFO.

Thanks everybody for the recommendations. We walked around downtown and along the river and ate dinner and drank in the square. The food was really good. Beautiful women here.
Currently watching the German dubbed Bengals v Steelers game at 4:30am in my hotel room. Thinking about jogging along the river in a few hours then grab some breakfast.
We are going to be in Luxembourg tonight.
