Been balding since i was 23. Definitely sucked coming to the realization of it for two or three years. But there's really nothing you can do about it - the more you fight it, the more self-conscience you're going to be about it. You're fighting the inevitable.
Use a trimmer, and gradually shorten it as you get used to us.

Started taking finasteride about 5 years ago. Easily one of the best decisions I ever made. Immediately stopped my hair loss and regret a good bit as well. Nothing to it.

When I started loosing my hair, I went with a shorter hair cut. Then I went with do it myself clippers. Then I went to Mach 3 shave it in the shower. You have to decide between the short clipper look or the shaved look.
