Next step in their plan after this is extending the 4 lanes of 3235 from Larose to highway 90 south of Raceland. Finally after that the plan is to 4 lane the highway 1 bridge from Golden Meadow to Fourchon. Then you’ll have 4 lanes all the way from highway 90 to Fourchon. That’s more than a decade away, though.

A decade, try a century.
It took a decade just to get to this next phase.
On top of that, in true Louisiana fashion, right now this section is really only half funded with money in the bank.
You have the 150 million from the BP fine money bonding out. Then you have this 135 million dollar grant. And you have monetary commitments from the Greater Lafourche Port Commission, oil and gas companies, and Lafourche Parish. That comes out to just over 300 million. The project was estimated at over 440 million. So the state made the commitment to come up with the rest over the next several years during construction. So hopefully JBE keeps that commitment otherwise the project will come up short.
I remember when the first section was bidded out which was from Leeville to Fourchon. They had raised close to 150 million through TIFIA loans (repaid with tolls) and other federal and state money. The bids came in over 260 million dollars because of increased costs of construction because of bridge construction after Hurricane Ivan. Sometime after Hurricane Katrina, DOTD scrapped the scope of the project and made modifications which included those infamous 90 degree turns and just the Leeville bridge in the part of the first phase. That was bidded out, and then they pushed and pulled and got more money the next half of the first phase. In total the first phase came out to over 300 million.
So with all of that said, unless Louisiana expands tolling and gets the Larose to US 90 as a private toll road, I don’t foresee that happening anytime soon or within the next 2 decades. Heck even DOTD, may not be thinking of the future, where 3235 ends in Larose, DOTD is using some that merge and green space for its new safer turn lanes.

The town limits end at the four lane. Golden Meadow PD has no jurisdiction where this bridge will be built. Anybody that is familiar, this is just south of town. The roadway gets water over it with any surge at all.

LaDOTD mentions have probably been a shitshow

As sure as the sun sets in the West.

Makes ZERO sense unless they start drilling offshore again and/or oil prices get to be above $65/bbl

How ironic.
Google street view has one shooting radar right past the Corp. Limit sign.

Not be be greedy- but how about a Marsh Loop from Cut Off to Leeville that totally bypasses Golden Meadow and their speed trap racket?
