911, yeah you are a decade older than me. Probably never crossed paths. But we were always in the canal with our little pirogue that we attached a troll motor. Putting around your side of the street closer to the poop plant.

Besides the tennis courts at Vista, Versailles was the easiest place to hit homers, with the orange fences and all.
Hit my first there. The vista field on the side towards Evangeline was impossible unless it got past the outfield and kept rolling.
The mosquito guy never failed to drive that place during night games. I still hate even the thought of that smell.

A lil older than you. You knew a chick named Noel on Hermitage? Skinny blonde headed. She lived across the street from Sam Fradella. He went to Brother Martin.
Then there was a dude named Eddie something who lived on the corner of a Hermitage and Evangeline. We hung out with the Hurley's. Kirk Dickinson.

Was there one night when Lance Licciardi hit one on somebody's roof.

Gto, Kirk just texted me about an hour ago...ha. Well don't say anything bad about Noel...I may know her..;)

What's up with his crazy sister?
Posted on 2/11/14 at 10:37 pm to Gtothemoney
Kirk's sister? Tracey.. I saw her a few months ago. Was dating a doctor.

Gmoney, I know pretty much every name you've tossed out so far - and lived next door to the Hurley family in the late 60's/early 70s in Cypress Gardens before either of our families moved to Buccaneer.

Yeah, that's her. Was always a lil slutty I thought growing up.

I am more of the age of the Cantrell's that lived on Hermitage. I was friends with some guys on Benjamin as well.
Posted on 2/11/14 at 10:47 pm to ColdDuck
I worked with one of the Cantrell's in Covington after Katrina while my dental practice was shut down.

Roy I assume. His little brother was my best friend when we were like 8.
Posted on 2/11/14 at 10:50 pm to ColdDuck
Yep. They were the "little kids" down the block.

Alright fellas. Daddy's going to sleep. If this thread is still going tomorrow, I'll holla. G'nite.

Wasn't there a Lee Cantrelle?
Posted on 2/11/14 at 10:58 pm to Gtothemoney
This thread rustled my jimmies.

Yeah. I think Lee played college baseball. Kid was always good at sports. When we'd play football in the streets, he was about the only little kid that the big kids wanted on their team.
ETA: played for ULL - apparently had a grand slam against LSU.

That was Kevin Cantrelle. Lee was a football player. Both went to HC. Kevin now does the broadcast of ULL games for a local TV station in Laffayette.
