Crazy thing, after a couple of weeks of dating she was already thinking wedding, which I quickly nixed, knowing that she had already been married five times and her last husband literally blew his fricking brains out.

I can only think that he liked it. Has to be messed up in the head. There is no way, not one that I would let my SO do anything like that. If it was something that she wouldn't back down on, I'd be out.
As for her parents, as stated a few posts ago, you can teach your kids, you can give the world on a silver platter, but once they're adults, they'll make their own decisions.

.... and that concept, my friend, can be very difficult for many parents to accept. You just have to understand that once they're on their own, you are no longer in control. Then again, as they were getting older under your roof that control thing was slowly coming up for grabs anyway. Called adolescence. I have no regrets raising my two kids, but I'll be damned if I would ever want to go through parenting an adolescent again. Too old for that shite these days.

This girl's parents are really going to need a good support system of friends for a long time to come. Those friends, although playing it by ear, will have to try to discern when to hold them and when to give them their space. Not an easy job.

That justice would probably be deserved and in the old days would have been meted out. Not so much these days. Hell, the state can't even find the chemicals (or a pharmaceutical company to sell to them) to kill the ones we currently have scheduled on death row. It's a damned mess.

Not attempting to disparage the folks who are working or will be working this case. However, I have never worked with the Sheriff's dept or DA's office in Livingston Parish. How good are they at what they do in terms of investigating (i.e., Sheriff/DA) and prosecuting (i.e., DA)? Just curious, that's all.

They do fairly well at investigating, but LP has the stigma that it does for a reason. I think this is a high profile case for them, obviously there's alot of interest. I don't know if it will mean much in the grand scheme of things, though.

Evidently, she was an only child according to the obit?
Looked through the video display the funeral home had put together. Seemed like a happy child coming up. Wonder what went wrong? I am sure her parents will be mulling that as well after they come out of the shock phase. Right now, it's just best for them to stay in that shock phase until they can get through Saturday's funeral. Damn, that has to be hard.

Just curious. In my work, I have seen one or two parishes botch things up to the point that they couldn't even frick up correctly. I can only hope that LP gets this one right.

i have no idea if she was hooked on prescription drugs or any other drugs but I've seen them destroy kids from the best families. The "shocking" part of this story is she is pretty, young, white, and looks innocent...if she looked the part of a crack whore giving bj's for $20 people would be like oh well she was messing with the wrong crowd.
I can't imagine what her parents have gone through this week...first their daughter was murdered and now all these allegations of what she was doing to earn money while planning a funeral.

I found it interesting that there was no mention of the boyfriend in the obit. I heard they had been dating for 7 or 8 years. Makes me believe he was atleast complicit in her profession.

Ponder the possibility that more than the boyfriend actually did know what she was doing. Word always has a way of getting back. Parents may have had an idea and knew they were powerless to stop her since she was on her own.
Then again, maybe not.

It mentions him in the obituary. List him as a pall bearer as well.
