You "got measured" at the wrong place.

the military had this rubbery belt with small suction cups on it

shirt first

rubbery belt second

pants last

the rubber would hold the shirt in place while pushing against the pants

worked pretty well...mostly for dress uniform where you had to look your best etc

I dunno what them mothers are called, but someone else will likely remember

Try the Van Heusen outlet in Gonzales

You can get pretty nice button ups for under $20

Forgot to mention they have 4 or 5 different fits. You should be able to find one that works there.

Tuck shirt in tightly
Line buttons up with belt buckle (which should be in line with sipper)
Raise your arms up

Done

Still will be billowy.

Sleeves are either too short or too long on me.

How far do sleeves go down arms for Short sleeves.

Slimfits may be right at my budget line.

Some suggested those may not even work.

Cheap slim and tall shirts: Paul Fredrick. They have an intro deal on up to four white shirts for $20 a pop. They are cheap, but fit pretty well. Wearing one right now since my law firm is filled with clothing Nazis.

Little pricier, still cheap: Charles Tyrwhitt.

Little pricier, still inexpensive: The Knot Standard. Custom sizes made to your measurements.

Also check out Lands End and Brooks Brothers. For comparison sake, I'm 6'2" 190.

Eventually you'll get to the point where you're not OCD.

However right now... it sounds like you're one tick away from full-on dimentia.

fwiw I'm similar measurements (6'2" 180lbs) and I have same issue.

Only real solution is to start with the large slim fit and get them tailored

I was having the same problem. As I lose weight and inches around the waist, my dress shirts looked a little poofier than I would like. Found this article and now use the military tuck. Looks a hell of a lot better.
