Volkswagen released the Atlas this year. It’s similar in size to the Traverse. Might be worth looking at

I thought about a Grand Cherokee, but I wanted the third row seating for when we travel with extra people (not often)
And folding down the third row gives you a HUGE cargo area...all for the same price or cheaper than a Grand Cherokee

The rear cargo area in our Traverse really was huge with the 3rd row folded down. But if they are still going for somewhat close to what the Tahoes are, Tahoe all day out of those two.

Agree, which is why I was looking at them
But for that price on a base model....

You are emailing/cross-shopping 3 different vehicles?
Have you even driven any of them yet?
KBB is not reliable for what you are trying to do, which I don't even know what that is.

You end up with so much more though. And probably better gas mileage. I don't remember what the sticker on our Traverse said, but it sucked arse.

AH, OK.
Go to Houston for that vehicle.

I tried that yesterday with a used 2017 Traverse
Had just over 19K miles
Wasn't certified due to dents in bumper
It wasn't certified due to the high miles.
Unless it was dirty. (bad CarFax; accidents, what not)

Here is a LS Tahoe with the same MSRP of $48,745 and this dealership in Houston is offering it for $41,288. That is $7k cheaper than the best offer you have been offered.

Here is another one located in New Orleans with that exact same MSRP and they are asking $41,940

That took all of 2 minutes

Ummm....they certify cars with well over 40k, sometimes even 50k+ miles. That wasn't the reason.

I may be mistaken, but I believe when he posted those, he was referencing drive-out prices, not just the MSRP/sticker price.

He listed the Tahoe he was looking at had a MSRP of $48,745 and the best offer he could find was $48,350 off the lot.
The Tahoe I listed had the same exact MSRP of $48,745, so it should have all the same options as the one he was referring to in his OP, but $7k cheaper
I listed 2 different Tahoe's with drive off the lot prices way cheaper than the one he listed and he should use those 2 dealerships as his bargaining chips with any dealer moving forward

But you're saying $7k cheaper on the base price, not counting tax, tag, title, dealer fees, etc? If I understand correctly, you guys pay 10% tax (sorry about that, that's rough). So that would bring it to right at $46k before the other stuff. Still cheaper, I just think off-the-lot it's not going to be a $7k difference. Or are you stating that the $41k price is their off-the-lot offer?

Absolutely agree.

Do your shopping in a large metro market like we have here in Houston. First, you must make a decision on exactly what car you want and that includes the minimum must haves on it. Then send an email to the internet manager at a dealership saying you are shopping for a Tahoe LS blah, blah, blah and are looking for the best OTD (out the door) price. Then copy and paste that email to every dealership in the area making sure that you always give them a local zip code if they ask. This way you have each dealership competing against each other. Do it towards the end of the month and you'll quickly realize who is willing to negotiate and who isn't. But even if you only have one dealership, act like you have many options. Tell them you only want to negotiate online and will come down and buy once everything is wrapped up.
With this method you must get all of your test driving out of the way before you start and know exactly what you want. If you start going back and forth on what kind of accessories or other things you want, they won't think you're a serious buyer that is ready to purchase, plus you can't compare apples to apples with other dealerships. It's the way I've been buying cars the past 15 years and always works great. Good luck...

Everything he says is spot-on. I've been doing it this way as well and it definitely works.

No, it was a 2017 with high miles.
Usually, CPO cars will have miles consistent with year. Typically 12K per year and obviously, a clean history.
