Hat you have skills if you arent carring a 45 into the woods.....you arent very smart.

Why do you carry a knife on your body when you spear fish?

The point is that when hunting a rifle should not be your only weapon at your dispos5

That's a little different don't you think? The main reason to carry a knife why spearfishing is to cut yourself from any possible entanglement. It could be used as a weapon, but that's not the primary reason for carrying it

And the man reason your carry a pistol is to protect yourself from anything you might encounter that wont give you ample time to raise your high powered rifle.

No I agree with you but I just never have carried another weapon with me mainly because I do not own a sidearm yet (will change in a couple months)

But also, we don't have hogs or anything on our place

I keep a pistol on me just for this reason.

At my old lease, I always carried a sidearm in case I ran into a meth head or two. It is spooky walking to your stand at 04:00 in the dark and coming across someone in the woods. I had a guy jump up about 20 feet away from me and run off one morning. Excellent way to get shot. I've never thought that I needed a backup to put down crazed, vengeful deer though.

I understand where your coming from, but I still can't justify the comparison. A knife is a necessity when diving. Any who dives and doesn't carry a knife is a fool. I've hunted my entire life and been around many hunters and I can't recall any of them carrying a sidearm.

Unless you walk the woods with your rifles safety off and in a defensive position. It would likely take you 3-5 seconds to get it in a position to fire.

A handgun holstered at your side can be drawn and fired with experience in 1 sec.

And on my end, never ever was taught not to have one.

Yeah I agree with the poster above, I do not know anyone who carries a holstered weapon while hunting

I always carry a pistol just in case I get attacked by a black panther.
