Exactly. Like if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, then it doesn't make a sound. No human is on the Moon when anything hits, therefore it makes no sound. Which is why I have a problem with the so called, "Big Bang Theory". If humans weren't around back then when the universe was created, then surly there was no sound made. They should change it to the "Big Grow Theory" as that would be more factual.

From what I can tell, the sun appears to be smaller in the sky than the moon. Once the sun is behind the moon you aren't seeing the edges of the sun, you're seeing the light from the sun.

I guess they appear somewhat similar in size but not "exactly" the same.
