The real question is why are the images universally consistent across cultures and history?

To me that’s the REAL mystery. How is that possible unless they is some other consistent factor associated with this other than fight or flight?

why would the images be different if it's all caused by the same biological malfunction? you'd expect similar experiences

I am 48 and have had it 3 times in my life . The most recent was about 5 years ago. Every time, I saw a black figure in my doorway but only for a brief moment. That is what sets me into a panic because after I see it I try to react and jump out of bed. That is when I realize I can’t move anything. I began to yell so that my wife or kids would hear me because I was freaked the hell out. But my yells sounded like moans. Every time, one yell would be going on as I actually woke up and it was definitely a moaning grunt. I know that I was sleeping on my back that time. I am a side sleeper so not sure if there is a cause/effect .

Agreed, and they have absolutely nothing to do with sleep paralysis. It's a scientifically documented thing. The mind and body get slightly off sync when you're sleeping sometimes, usually because you're overtired. Seeing the shadows and what not are from your mind being mostly awake but still slightly in dream mode.

It used to happen to me often and I feel confident I'm right with Christ.

You’re asking the wrong question.

Why does the biological malfunction create the same images?

There are infinite images that could be created and only one biological malfunction. So the question is why THOSE images out of the infinite options throughout all history and culture?

What’s the significance biologically/spiritually/psychologically?

Logic and probability dictates we reverse the question.

well for starters, being "shadow people" means that your body doesn't even have to perceive anything. since most of these incidents happen at night, it's already really dark and "seeing things out of the corner of your eye" will happen with your brain on fight/flight alert. our brain is purposefully looking for threats, so vague, "shadows" are the perfect over-representation of a generic threat

I had it a lot. Was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. Now wear Cpap and it does not happen.
Of course not certain it is related, but if it continues you may conside discussing a sleep study with your doctor

The first time I experienced it was in middle school. I was asleep in my room and I thought I heard voices outside. I was awake but couldn't move. All I can remember was this blinding light that was so bright I could see it through my closed eye lids. I was terrified and sat still in bed for an hour afraid to even move. I had a few more in high school and college but none that were that extreme.

he started making real money and became a self promoter milking that gravy train before the next guy stood up

his best stuff is his lectures from way before he was famous. i still listen to those

i did buy his book (like a physical copy) to support him. i don't think i need to actually read it, though (because of how much he has talked bout those issues in better ways the past couple years)

Truth.

Re: sleep paralysis I see the shadow figures but also can move so I usually run out of the room. Not fun.

Our brain is lazy unless we force it not to be. It's going to reuse and doctor up assets.

That's why you'll have dreams of being in college while using your highschool classrooms.
