They could run a 24/7 show with nola and Chicago but it would kill tourism
A legit live ride along show in one of these cities would also probably be incredibly sad.

I live in uptown Nola and went into the French quarter for the first time since I lived here (few months) I was completely shocked by the number of “homeless” sitting and begging around St. Peter’s, the cathedral and open air market

COPS was tGOAT
I remember when COPS first came on television in the late 80's. It created quite the buzz and was the original "reality" show. I loved it as a kid, and still do. I wish they would show some of the early years on tv still. It's also one of my son's favorite shows.
Here is a fun gem for COPS fans: COPS in the Soviet Union!

There is only like an 8 minute window between live action, and what you see on TV
I mean, it could vary from case to case, but I had an acquaintance of mine wind up on the show and I was on the phone with someone who was on scene as it was happening.. they never realized it was live PD as it was happening lol

The problem...and has been since say 1, they cut away from interesting shite to go to bumfrick Texas to follow 4 officers on foot going trailer to trailer to serve a warrant for not showing up in traffic court...and Dan Abrams is a total fricking douche

Abrams is dumb.
But Z-light breathing hard just gave me a woodrow.

Z makes the show but I’ve found that she gets me so sexually charged that it is frustrating to watch it. Just once I’d like for her to grip her nightstick in one hand and her cuffs in another and smile at the camera. No Z, no care. But if Z is spitting out street wisdom while walking briskly uphill, well, it’s just impossible not to watch.

Yeah but don't you feel better about yourself after an episode(because it's not you on the show)? I do,

I used to watch it too. Not any more though.

Unfortunately, the truth is that any mayor that is sympathetic to the poverty areas in their cities are not gonna want a live tv show going around with police hitting anything that moves in those areas just to get into a foot pursuit.
It would cause lots of complaints from the citizens and quite a few use of force reports.
Not much of a political guy but it’s just the truth. It’s why you don’t see legit hood policing going on

What cops deal with 99% of the time:
The cops in places like LA, NOLA, Chicago, and NYC are the exception, not the rule

To be honest, I’ve got a buddy that was a Nola PD for about 4-5 years. Most of their day was dealing with menial BS. Yea they’d get murders but obviously were showing up afterwards and if anything their homicide investigators were the busy ones with that. He said his day was mostly going to alarms, traffic stops, and a shite ton of paperwork, and drunks of course.

I hate watching the DWI checks. Just make them blow in the tube and get it over with.
Tivo for the win.
