Good chance it was the mom or dad. Young Barred Owls are just learning to fly this time of the year.

A lot of owls and hawks get killed along roads. People throw food out of their car, mice go after it, raptors go after them; and here comes the car. RIP.

i see so many of these birds dead along the interstate. i'm guessing they are picking at some other road kill before becoming road kill themselves?
