You can find Denso that are new and not reman?

I looked for my 07 Tacoma a few months ago, even from online dealerships densos were reman. So I rebuilt my OEM denso myself and riding an Oreilly chinesium in the meantime.

Toyota is now no different from a reliability standpoint from any other brand until they bring back the N/A engines and older gen transmissions.

That not much of an endorsement when a Ford 2.3L can go 300k with those original parts...

Supposedly they are bringing back a 5.0. The 5.7 boared down for efficiency

They haven't been much better in several decades, they peaked in the mid-1990's. They covered up a lot of issues to protect their reputation for reliability but now they can't escape public notice like they used to. The Tundra issue is much more than "debris" left behind from manufacturing, there have been detailed teardowns of low mileage engines with obvious machining deficiencies that still passed QC.

IDK about mid-90s, but they have been getting by on rep for a long time.

Domestics had a well-deserved reputation for poor reliability, mostly due to manufacturing and service.

That said, the gap has closed tremendously in the past 10+ years.

I wouldn't consider a Tundra,I as I know several people that have 250K+ on Domestics with no more than minor issues, while still achieving decent MPG.

This isn’t really surprising given the magnitude of the recall.

His wasn’t recalled at the time. His just failed and they rebuilt the engine at the dealer, re-using everything but the crank and block.

Recalled models get a whole crate engine from Toyota.

But either way….I don’t trust dealers with complex work like this. And I don’t trust Toyota with full sized trucks anymore.

I would argue that they are far worse than the alternatives in the full sized truck segment. But superior in most other segments.

I guess if you're going to have a take, it might as well be a hot take.

Toyota needs to bring back the V8 the way Ram did.

They need to bring back the whole previous generation truck.

MPG and tech are their weak points

Paint work is average, at best.

Resale is good, but not up to Ford, GM.

And reliability. They’ve ruined the Tundra.

You can link the charts, or whatever you have.

If Tundra resale is superior to Ford/GM, I'll edit my post and give you credit.

Have you looked at what’s going on from a powertrain standpoint with the large SUV and truck platforms post Covid?
