Yep.....if you get a "refund", that means that YOU gave the government an interest free loan for the year.
What if you gey a 1k refund and have 1.2k withheld from your last check of the year?

If I’m Trump I tell people you get your refund when I get my wall. Cletus and L’Davius will be screaming at reps to concede and give Trump the Wall. Stable fricking Genius.

You are the accountant, explain that scenario.

I usually get between 10-15k back. I can take my statement to a loan place and they'll give me 8-10k right away.
Sounds like a great idea.

That’s a good point, but it would require Cletus to be paying attention. Perhaps he actually will pay attention when his refund is in limbo.

Funny how that works huh
Real similar to how banks run their scheme. Deposits get credited at midnight but all debits occur immediately. It's bullshite!

FAIR TAX
Never going to happen. The tax laws are about power, not raising revenue. If revenue was the goal, we'd eliminate ALL deductions/credits. You pay the rate, period. It would result in a lower tax rate for all because there would be no deductions. But, but, muh charities, muh mortgage interest. Like I said, never going to happen.

This.

I would wager you don't know how banks work.

I'm pretty sure that's incorrect.

Never seems to work out for me. I'm more concerned with giving them a zero interest loan than not getting my return on time.
Last spring, we were so busy that we had to file for an extension anyway.

Employers haven't even mailed out W-2 forms yet. This is bullshite.

Did you read the article?

What about it?
You could have adjusted throughout the year and probably gave up $10-$20 in interest as a result.
Is that worth your time? Maybe not, but I make a habit to never voluntarily give the government anything extra.

Y'all realize most of these people that are filing early are getting back more than they paid in

Same. The last thing the government got from me was my foreskin. And they had to take that kicking and screaming.

Well, that's how it worked for me several years ago. I made deposit on a payday during lunch time. I knew I needed it to pay a few bills (yeh, I was the poor at that time...still kinda am). I went to make bill payments in person at 2 separate locations after work. Those charges hit immediately and overdrew my account because my deposit was not credited until midnight. I called the bank to find out what happened and they explained it to me in that same way.
Apparently the bank doesn't know how banks work either.
