Insurance companies started 4 point inspections a few years ago checking HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Roof before renewal.
You are required to fix any deficiencies prior to renewal.
I am not sure what deficiencies they would find with HVAC but an asphalt shingle roof 15 years old is an automatic fail regardless of condition.

I got a call from State Farm a few years ago wanting to know how old the roof was. I told them they should know since I filed a claim the year before for a new roof. Also mentioned that we had replaced the gutters at the same time. Never heard anything since.

They send out people to photograph your home from the street. I've caught a lady doing it to my home once and realized what was going on.

Whether you like it or not a lot of the companies are using high res pictures from the bottom of commercial airliners.

Not State Farm but switched to Sure carrier recently. An appointment was made for a guy to come out and take a shite ton of pictures, inside and out. Flew a drone over the house for 15 minutes, too.

They can and do you satellite imagery and drones. The right to inspect is in the policy language. You accepting the policy means you agree to all the language within it. It’s a contract.
You keep talking about people shooting inspectors, is this a common occurrence I somehow never hear about?
