I just got a call from a friend yesterday. I honestly couldn't believe my ears when he told me his wife of almost 20 years had left him. Their kids are now out of highschool and i think this is whats happening to alot of relationships going bad now.
Alot of couples just are terrified to live with their spouses once the kids grow up and move away.
Very sad trend.

1. Divorce: divorce laws are heavily biased in favor of women and the process is very expensive. Women can initiate the process with basically zero warning or fault and get most of the money. It's become a very risky proposition for men, so many men avoid it for that reason.
Divorce laws tilt towards women because of the traditional place a woman had in the home. I'm not saying I agree with it completely, but it makes sense if you consider the difficulty women were faced with after a divorce.
Now that the traditional model is no longer the norm, women can also be fleeced in a divorce if they are the bread-winner.

marriage at its core isn't for selfish people.
Bingo. It takes two people who are equally respectful of one another to make a marriage work long term.

Most of the time a court is using pretty decent logic.
Anyone who says this in regards to divorce in the United States is completely ignorant. Even judges and divorce lawyers will tell you how fricked the system is.
