Issues with purchasing from eBay

So I bought a part for my truck from a very reputable seller on eBay. Paid with via Apple Pay and the order was processed and paid for and then 10 minutes later I received an email that my account was permanently banned. I was confused but forgot about as I was busy when I got the email. The part was delivered about a week later, I installed it and turns out to be a bad part. So I get on to try and contact the seller but I can’t do anything because my account is banned. This is literally the first time I’ve ever purchased anything from eBay. I didn’t do anything else other than make the purchase. I didn’t contact the seller or do a review. Nothing.
So I do the thing where I have eBay call me to rectify. They say, it’s been determined that you pose a dangerous risk to our community. They are not allowed to tell me why because I could spread that information and allow others to manipulate eBay. So we have decided not to lift your ban and you can never purchase from eBay again. You’re also not eligible to return the item since you’re banned. WTF?!? I’m so dumbfounded with this shite. It was only $45 so not the end of the world but what kind of scammy bullshite is this? Anyone had any experience like this that can shed some light on what I might have done?

Your physical address or IP may be associated with someone who did fraudulent stuff in the past.
Amazon does the same thing with physical addresses. There are cases of landlords saying that previous renters were banned by Amazon for return fraud, and they can't get the address ban lifted even after people move out.

I've been using eBay for 20 years and never seen something like this. It looks like your account was hacked.

Or the previous owner/renter was banned from eBay.

It’s only ever been my house. We built it

Sounds like I wrote that Reddit post. Other than me being a buyer and that poster being a seller, that was my exact scenario.

Same here, and I've used eBay over 20 years.

Closest neighbor is way too far and he’s an older man anyway. But there’s no one within 200 yards

Little known fact.
You can actually buy from Ebay as a "Guest".
You don't have to have an account....

Have you or wife had an eBay account in the past? Kids?
They don't arbitrarily ban new accounts because they consider the cost of acquiring new customers to be very expensive.
I sell on Amazon, eBay, and WalMart.com and all three remind sellers that the customers are theirs because they spend the money to acquire them and we are only guests allowed to sell on their platforms. That's despite the fact that sellers bring the products that generate the fees they collect. It's less costly to obtain new sellers than it is buyers for them so they give a lot of leeway to buyers.

No but I have a feeling I know why. I logged in with both my phone and laptop. My phone is always in its physical location, Mandeville for this particular example. My laptop has a beefy security VPN that always gets logged as Dallas. I got those emails but it said if this was you you don’t need to do anything. So I didn’t. It never said anything about being flagged but this is the only thing I can think of. They think I’m fraudulent because I logged in to two locations 8 hours away from each other within minutes. I get it but kinda shitty they don’t allow me to explain or refute.

Because people constantly try to use VPNs to circumvent the system and commit fraud. They too might call to try to "explain" why.
Unless you bought a dedicated VPN, you are usually sharing an IP
eBay probably tracks VPNs and the IPs so you used an IP address that many people have perhaps used to scam eBay.
