He can't run for re-election. He's termed out.

More likely he's eyeing national political jobs or lobbying jobs for liberal causes, or a position with something like the Urban League.

I stopped by about a half hour ago and stood on the corner, watching, minding my own business, when they took the inscription part of the base down. I was standing with my arms folded when a Metro garbage truck pulled up to the light next to me. One of the three guys in the truck pointed at me to the other two and said, "look at this mother fricker." He was laughing and he folded his arms, mocking me.
of course my money goes to Metro because they have a city contract, which sort of pisses me off.
I guess this is the unity Landrieu is creating.

Let them be. They're earning a buck.
Focus on Mitch.

Does anyone think Mitch even lives at home anymore?
Probably has his own secret service detail and lives in a fortress underground.

Same truck that was used this morning.
Call and tell them what you think.

Do you realize this is the sentiment of a lot of people?
Yes, I do, and honestly, I doubt many of them drop much money there or have even been there in the near past. A lot of people are just saying that to sound tough, but will have relatively little, if any, impact.
quote:
It isn't a knock on the city itself but what our leaders have turned it into. The loss of the historical landmarks coupled with the increase in crime is going to have an impact. We have historically seen that this will affect tourism.
Crime may affect tourism. I don't think the removal of the monuments will regardless of my personal opinion.
It will certainly not stop me from going to a city that I love and used to live in. I was there last month and I will be there next month, purely for pleasure. I think there will still be conferences and conventions there. People will still come for the food and festivals. People who agree with removal of the monuments will certainly not stop coming. In fact, some of them may come because the monuments were removed to make a statement. Who knows.
I have friends with businesses there. I'm not going to stop doing business with them because of removal of the monuments. They didn't get to opine on that. They got no choice. Why should they be punished for what the outgoing mayor and city council did?

This isn't just about statues, it's about liberal policies running a once great city in the south into the ground just like it has in other places where democrats have been voted into power year after year. . Violent crime is up, murder convictions are way down, infrastructure is a joke, and instead of focusing on any of the above the liberal major is pandering to the sheeple that elected him only because he had D behind his name. If you don't think at some point the tourism dollars aren't going to start shrinking as the image of the NO continues to swirl on it's way down the toilet your crazy.
