Sounds to me like you flooded.
My wife and I were actually renting a house in Gonzales while she went to grad school @ LSU. The sequence of events the summer before Katrina still rattles me sometimes. We discussed moving back home and all that jazz but then she decided to go through with the grad school thing so we stayed up there. If just a few things work out differently we would've been fricked. Thankfully it didn't and our little rental house became our little commune for a few months.

Tigerdrew Sounds like you flooded to me too. Losing your childhood home your parents were living in.
And to whoever questioned saying it was beyond the 9th ward and Da Parish, I didnt live there or Lakeview.
Lots of 2nd hand comments in here though regarding flooding out and losing everything LNCHBOX. Yes everyone living in GNO was impacted.
Breesus wasnt trying to knock you, we took it differently.

I believe it has its lasting impact on my life, but not traumatized by it. Me, my parents, and my grandparents all lost everything, and I mean everything, that we have ever owned, not talking about a flooded-out house, but 3 homes wiped completely off the map. The surrealness of just being alive afterward makes you realize how truly insignificant you are on this earth and that possessions mean shite when it all comes down to it in the end. The experience has made me thankful for everyday that I'm above ground.
