How about just letting him get his experience off his chest? I see the word Katrina in the thread title but cmon man,you really going to run him off for telling a story?

It's the way he said it and the way he is continually comparing the two. Don't act like my reaction just came out of nowhere.

He didn't tell a story. He came in this thread bitching about the lack of coverage and made a blanket statement about the Katrina people taking handouts.

t was a photo I took. Geeze

I was joking. It's a great photo. Brings up lots of memories. Everything from people I knew in the dome both civilian and military, to the destruction and subsequent rebuilding of the city, to the 2005 saints season and that unbelievable "we're back and everything will be ok" moment of complete joy and relief on September 25, 2006 in that building

Im sorry for that comment and would take it back...the media just harped on all the negative BS about the few that were not like us and hadled our own buisness.

We can agree that the storms have caused all of us some great loss.

Traumatized? This is the most ridiculous shite ever. Unless someone you know drowned in front of you, the rest should just be classified as major disappointment.

Let him whine if he wants to do so. What difference does it make? While Katrina was horrible for many people I honestly feel the city is in much better shape now and I challenge anyone to dispute that.

No one said it didn't suck for Acadiana during Rita. The problem you're running into is the NOLA people ALSO had to deal with Rita but in a much different way. It was just insult to injury. It was Rita that made a lot of people start seriously questioning even going back home. At least that's what made my family start thinking about it.

Well I'm sure all the people that dies might have something to say about that. What an asinine comment.

How do you know how traumatic it was for others? Everyone handles things differently and what was no big deal for some was a catastrophic life changing even that will never be recovered from for others.

St. Bernard isn't the same. Neither is New Orleans East. Plenty of places are still not even close to "back."

I know someone from this board whose family lost everything and their father took his own life like 3 months after. I would say they are traumatized.

Yes, and there are still many other reasons that people would legitimately disagree with what you posted. Of course New Orleans (metro area at least) as a whole is "better," there are still many families and areas that are no where near back to where they were, much less better.

I understand that as I live here. I don't believe things will ever return to the way they were and that is not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion. Business is booming and there is a great deal of young talent pouring into the city. I know many are reluctant to admit it but I don't believe this would be the case had the storm not hit.
