But feel free to rant about something you have done no research on.

Wow, step away from the ledge. It's all just fictitious ramblings about a fantasy world scenario. No need to freak out.

You don't think that maybe the thing would be on an apparatus to pull it back in? You act like they would have to turn around and fish it out of the ocean.

That doesn't make sense to you?

I said a kite falls when there is no wind. You think that makes no sense? Are you a retard or just trying to be a trolling douche. Well you succeeded, I took your bait. Congrats on being a douche.

Please point to anything I posted indicating I was "freaking out".

At least you admit it. Maybe it is you that should step back from the edge.

When I said nothing you said made sense, it was referring to the original post I replied. Nothing you said made sense.

OK yes if there's no wind, a kite won't fly. Duh

None at all.

As I said it is obvious you know nothing of the subject.

The kite is "flown" by a computer that uses real time data to plot the ships course along the most efficient path. It knows the winds direction and speed as well at other atmospheric and sea conditions such as current etc.

The wind is much more powerful and steady at the altitude the kite operates at. That's the point of using a kite system instead of just putting on a mast and normal sail.

Also if all else fails the kite would just be towed behind the ship like one being flown by kid running. You do realize the ship keeps it's engine running don't you?

It flies in figure 8s per the article so while obviously zero wind would render it useless at the moment, it doesn't sound like you have to have a direct tail wind.

As far as retrieving it, I imagine they worked that out. Asking if they would have to stop to retrieve it out of the ocean every time the wind died was a pretty terrible comment.

You mean the post where I said Kite and your response was about a sail? You don't get to criticize someone's ability to make sense when you lack reading comprehension.

Additionally, you admit to being a liar when you said...

as evidence...

So a liar that lacks reading comprehension. Do you want to go for the trifecta?

Correct. The ships movement can provide enough wind to get the kite to altitude. The the system, and it is a system, will guide the kite and ships course based on prevailing conditions. The best course may not be straight to the destination. Sailors have been tacking into the wind since the dawn of time.

I guess they wouldn't have to stop, but it would make it a little easier. I guess they could have large storage bins on board for all the Shrimp they pull.

I said sail then immediately addressed your point about the kite.

The kite doesn't just fall into the ocean and the ship has to turn around to pick it up. That made no sense. It would be able to be pulled in if ineffective.

Needing extra crew members because no one is ever just standing around didn't make sense either. The current crew would operate because well there's a lot of standing around when out at sea for weeks at a time. So yes your knowledge of a ship and its crew made no sense.

I guess we could address the 10x longer statement also but let's just say in logistics it made no sense either.

There's your trifecta

As well as additional personnel labor costs to operate the system. Surely they don't have people standing around doing nothing currently.

You raised my curiosity and I went and researched. There is no deck crew intervention required. Everything is run from the bridge. Basically you push a button.

Nah man you need to hire extra personnel because all 21 or so of the current crew is never just standing around.

And when it falls in the ocean, you need some more people to fish it out.

For those truly interested this is a video from 12 years ago from SkySails. Notice that the focus was on fuel/cost savings.

It explains some of the systems capabilities and remember this is older tech and use smaller kites than the current systems.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYv6k5A-kHg

There is promise in the technology, I just think the carbon emission angle triggers some people. They should just focus on costs and money/fuel savings.
