Soft drink/drink/consumer food industry is much more profitable than hardware. Home Depot has twice the revenue but half the profit of coke

This also makes sense, Home Depots Net was 6.83% for the prior year. While Cokes was 18.32%

Yeah which makes this map sort of flawed because you're right coke is probably the most profitable in the state.

I wonder how many states would be different if they used market cap instead of revenue? I guess it'd be difficult to gauge the private co's.

Yep. I did a lot of work for chevron over in the Kern River field and elsewhere. Pump jacks everywhere, literally 10 ft from each other.
Funny to think that one of the biggest liberal "green" states makes the lion's share of it's money from big oil.

Archer Daniels Midland is no longer an Illinois company.....I think they are moving to Minneapolis.

GM, FedEx, WalMart, Exxon, Nike, and Costco are not surprising at all.

I'm surprised Sanderson Farms beat out Huntington-Ingalls (shipbuilding) in Mississippi.

Chevron in California is quite an interesting one. I didn't realize that.

Company I retired from. Their real estate holdings in the Bay area is in the billions.
