I predict a huge drop off in the number of ride requests in/out North BTR after the initial 2 week promotion expires.
I predict they won't even have any idea it exist for another 4 years...

Ill take this all day over calling yellow cab and them telling me it'll be 2 hours. Or telling me 30 minutes and then never showing up
Furthermore you'll also have drivers cancel on you out of the blue. I wonder how many drivers are in BR and just how willing they'd be to make pickups in certain areas.

They can get to Buffalo Wild Wings for $5? They are already planning their weekends, fact.
Is that $5 per person or per car? I could easily see 4 of them splitting the $5 fare.

Uber charges per car.

I doubt they'll pick you up all the way out there, unless there happen to be drivers in the area. I live in the middle of San Francisco, so I'm not really in the position of having to worry about driver availability.

Re ascension, you can do a fare estimate. If it's too far, it will let you know.
Yeah, NBR will never use uber.

I wonder how many drivers they have working in BR. Where did they come from? I haven't seen them advertising for drivers...

If they do this, you report them and they will get fired eventually. Give them 0 stars and thats just as bad.
Same goes for shitty passengers. If they get several bad ratings they are kicked off the service.
ETA:
I use Uber and Lyft every weekend several times. Been doing this for 6+ months. Never had a single "no-show".

Yeah, NBR will never use uber.
But even then, not many people are going to want to drive all the way out to Ascension just to pick someone up. Your best bet would be someone who lives in the area and happens to be starting their shift could pick you up on their way into the city.

Drivers who know Baton Rouge will just not accept it. I know I wouldn't 90% of the time. Its a shame because there are great people out there, but you got to watch your arse.
And you need a functioning credit card.

You can't give 0 stars if you never actually get the ride. I've been using Uber for about 3 years now and get several no-shows because the GPS screws up and the driver can never find me. One time the driver canceled on me and then tried to charge me for a no-show. Luckily they reimbursed me. I think some of the drivers are also drug dealers who use that service to sling some product.

Catter P,
I think he was referring to BR yellow cabs canceling.
We ride Uber more than I care to admit and have never had one cancel.
Was having a VERY good night a while back and evidently ordered two ubers at the same time. I realized it way too late and canceled one as both pulled up. I was charged a cancellation fee.
When I woke up the next day, I emailed uber to tell them what I had done. They not only refunded my cancelation fee but sent me a $30 credit.
Good people.

I think it's a bit absurd that they gave you a $30 credit after that, but Uber will usually reimburse your first cancelation fee.

Where do you live?
I have never had a GPS issue in Nashville. Thats weird. I wouldn't doubt the drug thing, thats just downright clever
I didn't know you couldn't rate if they didn't show either because I've never experienced it. My bad. They DO have INCREDIBLE customer service so you should report those drivers if you think they are to blame.

Not absurd to me. They gave me $30 for MY mistake. And locked in my business for a lifetime.
Call me a fanboy. As someone mentioned earlier about not recalling a time that they have been this excited about a product--just wait until you guys actually start using it.
Amazing ride share technology.

Yep. They come from the AMEX/Amazon/Zappos breed of customer service. Just over the top awesome.
