I just came in and stumbled upon this thread a few moments ago, and there are a lot of dumb arguments going back and forth, but to get back to the main point of all this--You really don't seem like the type of guy who minds having conversation with less intelligent people at all. In fact, you seem to thrive on it.
So I'm just not buying the whole point of the original post.
I don't have any kids, but I'm guessing that whether or not you have good rapport with your son or daughter will have very little to do with how intelligent they are, and a whole lot to do with shared interests and points of view about random stuff.
