I swear, it feels like I blinked my eyes and my 30s were gone. The first half of my life seemed to pass SO much slower.
I'm 29, and this terrifies me. You really can get lost in your career and your life and other commitments and lose YEARS. So many people put off gratification for some imaginary day in the future when the climate will be perfect. The reality is that the perfect climate is now.
I'm not saying to be irresponsible with money out of fear - just to make sure that you always make time for fun/experiences/memories. Because nobody knows how much time they have left on the game clock.
We are ALL Les Miles.

You're 44. I'm 68. Two minutes ago I was 44. It feels that way sometimes.
My experience is the older I get the faster time ticks away. Sounds like you are beginning to have that same sensation.
My 50th HS reunion happens this summer. My classmates are getting older, like me. Some of them have died. But we are Boomers. Invincible. This can't be happening! Hah! None of us are exempt.
Best approach. Smile a lot. Laugh often. Love deeply. Live in the moment, and enjoy it when you can. But don't be afraid to cry. Cultivate a rich spiritual life. Pray. Surround yourself with family and good friends. Make new friends. Give of yourself to others and to worthy causes; fill your minutes with meaning. Take care of your health and stay in shape. Save money and yet be generous. Read good books. Focus on whatever is good and noble and positive.
That's about it.

Great advice packed into that paragraph.

Damn. Amazing perspective. I just turned 31 and try to live everyday in the moment to try and slow life down.

What do you guys do to slow life down?
Stop chasing meaningless material shite, settle down to a modest lifestyle, appreciate the beauty in everyday things and value my time.

I have two. Both under 5. It feels like just yesterday I was meeting my oldest for the first time.
I have been told by every parent with kids in college to not blink because before I know it they're grown and out of the house.

I'm trying hard to retire in 2-3 years. I hope then that I have enough good years left to enjoy having worked for 35 years. Not sure if it will happen though, but I think about it every day.

Almost time for the champions tees, I'm a lot older, and the days are flying by ....
