Im surprised you would collectively know 300 people well enough to consider inviting them to your wedding
My Mom comes from a family of 11. We used to rent out the local community center for our christmas parties.

about 140 people. perfect for us because we didn't invite anyone we didn't know (i.e. not a lot of random parents friends) and we didn't have to walk around all night catching up with people, danced the whole night

each of our parents got 35 invites and me and mriluv had 35 invites. 35 invites goes very quickly if you have big families or lots of friends. Ended up somewhere around 100-200 attended. All of our favorite people were there, and I wouldn't have changed it for anything in the world.

I wanted a small wedding, but went with a large one. I'm not one to "regret," but I will always wish I had the smaller one.

We tried to keep it under 150 but the final tally was around 230

We budgeted for 150...not a soul more

Spent $30k, had 200-ish folks. It was the first (and hopefully ONLY) wedding for either of us. I wouldn't change a thing, but wouldn't want to do it again either. Far too much going on and wore us both the hell out.

I'm not a dude, but planning my wedding now. We currently have 460 people invited. I wanted a smaller wedding and a check from my parents, but my fiancé and our parents all insisted we invite all these people and its turned into a circus. I would elope in a heartbeat.

Another impossibility because it doesn't fit the cliche.

Holy shitballs. Good luck cutting that in half.

Even with the standard 20-ish% not showing up, that's still a shite-ton of people. Make sure someone gets you some food as soon as the reception starts, otherwise you won't eat until it's all over. My cake was freaking awesome and the only way I know it is because someone made sure to save some for the wife and I before it was all gone.

250 people. Man that day sucked.

Yall didn't do a cake cutting thing? We were the first people to get cake, and it's been that way at most weddings I've gone to.

I wish. That would help pay for the wedding!

If she is up for it, destination wedding.
Economically superior option.
More importantly, the benefits and pro's relative to traditional wedding are dispositive on this issue. You will both realize after its the best move you ever made.
Your invitees should be "everyone that wants to come."
After you get back you have a reception type party for anyone who couldnt make it.
Know this. Act now.

About 20-25. Only very close friends and family. We went to Jamaica to get married. The week long celebration with friends and family was awesome! Wouldn't change a thing.

We did, but only got the bite she fed me since the moment the picture-taking of it was over we were swarmed by folks wishing us well.
