Anyone use Castle Forbes yet?
It appears to be the obscene of obscene in expense. Higher that Trumpers or Truefitt.

Not yet. Hours have been a bit too long to make it to a Bath and Body Works lately. It's on my list of things to get done soon though.

I didn't get the stainless, I've only used the super chrome out of my pack so I have nothing else to compare.
Here is the sampler I got: LINK

I went with this one because it was way more blades for the money. I also was under the impression because of how I was searching that there were Feathers in the pack, but there were not, unfortunately (I have heard so many good things and would like to try them). I've tried 4/7 varieties in this pack. The Shark Chrome is probably tied for my second favorite. It actually gets style points for the razor-disposal compartment on the plastic pack (you're supposed to put your old razors in that little slot on the back, in case that is news to you like it was to me). They're definitely fairly priced at 11cents/blade compared to the Feathers which are almost double that. Still beats the heck out of $4/cartridge.

I used my 1st Shark Super Chrome today and loved it. Closest DE shave I've ever had with no blade burn. I have been using feathers and never felt like I could be agressive enough with them on my neck and jaw line without tearing my face up.
I had bought a variety pack with the Sharks, Astras and derby. If the rest of the Shark Super Chomes do as good as the 1st one, I might not ever use an Astra or Derby.

I may have to try the Sharks. I've only used Merkur and Feather up to this point. I've heard a lot of good things about the Astras as well.

Update for the folks in NOLA looking for supplies, particularly creams, soaps, aftershaves and the like (so more so the 'Care' line than the 'equipment' line):
Modern Men on Hampson and Adams (uptown, their website) carries some TOBS, Jack Black, Nivea and a few other lines of soaps and creams. I did see one safety razor handle there, though I forget the name, it was $40, TTO, and felt overall 'cheaper' than my Merkur 38hd. They also had two of the same Badger Brush, and some rather cheap looking DE blades (not a name famous on any forum I have seen, though I have also seen these same ones at Rouse's in Lafayette and a few other convenience stores). I didn't get a chance to see what they were charging for the TOBS creams, but for those warning of the 'smell before you buy,' this would be a good place to get your hands on some good stuff without buying it first.

Have you tried the 7 a.m. blades out of that pack? I got the 100 pack for like $12. They aren't too bad, and seem to last about a week. I like the Feathers the best out of all I have tried.

Not to hijack this thread but this question is for the guys with back hair. What do u do?
I've gone as far as the laser hair removal treatments and while it is slightly less thick now it is still very much there. Is there any way to get rid of it completely?

Never tried those except for the brush.
Here is mine:

7 a.m. blades (got the 100 pack, so will be a while)
Prosaro shave soap
Escali badger brush
Escali stand for brush and razor
Oh, and put baby oil on before the soap

Do you have to use a shaving bowl for the lather?
how hard is it to transition into shaving with a safety razor?

I use an old coffee cup.
It is a very easy transition. I don't miss my Mach 3 at all. Go slow at first until you get the hang of it. Some say it takes longer, but that's not true. And, you can't beat the savings in blades alone!

I think I like these about as much as the platinum Astra blades (green box), very close also to the Shark Super Chrome. They did a little bit more tugging than I like, but I haven't had any razor burn of nicks. I still think the Astra Superior Stainless (blue box) is the best blade of that pack. I still have a few more to try, though.

I use the green CO Bigelow tube from Bath & Body with a Harry's razor. Love em both and don't think I'll be changing in the near future. Both products are very fairly priced and of good (enough) quality.

As of today, I'm without a beard for the first time since early December. A little hard to get used to.
