i'm not taking up for anyone. It's clearly obvious how to stay out of trouble on the interstate but people like you find a way to make life miserable.

You're entitlement mentality is what's wrong with people.

Maybe if the popo enforced the left lane blocking rules then pickup would not have had to take matters into his own hands.

When speeds are 70 to 75mph on the interstate the left lane blockers are causing a safety hazard.

I'm not getting over in the slow arse right lane just to let you by if I'm already going 80 mph. You can find a gap and go around me. I belong in the fast lane at 80 mph.

Your type is the problem.

Good for you, and when there is a gap in the right lane you need to move over.

Left lane or not, there is no "right" to travel at your desired speed on the interstate. If the dude passing in the left lane is going well above the speed limit and is clearly passing and getting back over into the right lane, your NASCAR arse can just settle down.

Sure he is. The left lane is the passing lane. That means pass, then get back over into the right lane. Many highways have signs stating "Left lane for passing only".

I might agree if both the car passing and the car being passed are going much faster than the speed limit, but that wasn't specified in his post.

I do understand and am passing people at 80 mph. You're not entitled to drive as fast as you want in any lane. If I'm consistently passing people at 80 mph, then I belong in the passing/fast lane. Pretty simple concept.

he feels entitled to his driving style.
No way to convince him otherwise.

It's not the fast lane, it's the passing lane. You find a gap and move your arse over to let the faster car pass. When not passing you belong in the right lane no matter what speed you are going.

This is based on state law and isn't the case everywhere. It's a good general rule to follow, though.

and you're not entitled to block anyone. How hard is it to move over for, what, 30 seconds, to let someone pass you then carry on with your business as usual?

make no mistake, I get over if some douche like the truck driver flies up on my arse because he can't seem to leave early enough to not have to do 90 mph everywhere he goes. I don't feel like dying.

I'm just saying you're not entitled to go as fast as you want and have traffic gtfo of your way because you feel like driving like a maniac.

Some states. Not all. But how you describe is how I drive. Anyway, someone who is going 90 in a 70 and is tailgating a dude going 80 in the left lane is far more a part of the problem than the dude not getting over in a timely enough fashion.

It's ridiculous when people talk about rules of the road, but then advocate going 20 over and recklessly endangering other people by tailgating.

That was my hypo, and the one he seems to advocate.

i get that. Simple question here. How long do you give drivers like that before you get out of their way?

The difference is assholes who want to pass at a higher rate than I'm passing.

If I'm passing someone who is doing 75 and I'm doing 80, you don't have the right to ride my arse because you want to pass at 90. This is why most of these douches tailgate.

I used to drive from Lafayette to BR and back daily and would have dickheads riding my arse and flashing their lights while I'm passing doing 80 in a 70 .

The amount of people taking up for and defending the guy who ran someone off the road is sickening. Sure, I'd like to have a bullet a day for a back tire of drivers (especially in South La) but that's 100% in theory and the thought of running someone off the road is disturbing.

Yes, the car in the left lane was being a tool for slowing down. No need for it. Still, being tailgated at 70 or whatever speed is a bit too much.

Fwiw, this morning on those stupid Denham ramps to get onto the interstate I had an idiot in a truck tailgate me then swerve around (went through the light with me at the on ramp). His back tire... deserved a bullet .. IN THEORY!!

The truck driver is doing God's work.

What grinds my gears is the people who think they are entitled to play law enforcement. Half of them don't even know what the law is.

Pieces of shite list

1) People who tailgate people in the left lane. There is no excuse for this, not even that a-hole hogging the lane. It endangers yourself, the person in the lane, and everyone else around. At minimum, your rinky dink accident could clog the interstate for some time, which in my world is punishable by death.

2) People who don't understand what the purpose of the left lane is, and refuse to vacate it.

Agree with the contents of your list, but I'd swap the order.

A quick google search said until March of this year Tennessee actually referred to it as the "fast lane" iirc. I lvie in Nashville, fyi. It is now legally a passing lane only, and I agree that you should get over as opposed to clog up traffic.
