Get Percogesic. Ive had them for years and it's what my mom always gave me. I now make sure I always keep them in my house. Trust me on this. You'll thank me later. I usually take two, they knock me out for a few hours and I wake up good as new. Every single time.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Yeah I had them as a teenager and I would not get better until I throw up a bunch and sleep in dark room with cold compress.
These are nor those type of headaches. They are chronic cluster Migraines. They can last weeks, sometimes over a month. (Will vary from she can move for a few days to ER visits to just constant dull pain) We are way past OTC shite. The Hydrocodone doesnt always work (She saves it as they are Nazi's about it here in Bama) and she has to get the cocktail drip about 3 to 4 times a year. I am over managing this shite it is taking it's toll.
When the kids say Mom you always have a headache there is big problem. I know it has cause brain damage etc at this point. This all started about 10 years ago or right after Katrina. MRI's CAT scans, Xrays, etc etc. Still no clue and this is getting worse not better. We need to address the problem and stop them not just treat them.
Thanks for all the replys.

Grown men crying, pain so severe you puke. Accepting death as a viable alternative, even though you have a family. That sir, is not cured by Excedrine fn Migraine!
the pain i can handle, but mine start with blurred vision, then fingers go numb, then the hands ,lips then tongue and inside my mouth.
that feeling i hate most.
and i have trouble forming a sentence.
totally out of commission, just go lay down and hope i fall asleep as soon as possible.
next day sucks, feels like my brain is ramming my skull when i move my head.
when i get that weird feeling like a migraine is on the way i take excedrin and it seems to work for me if i take it before i go full blown.
had a strange thing happen the last time when the blurred vision started i stopped at mcdonalds and while waiting in drivethru fingertips went numb and i ordered some fries.
within 10mins vision was clear, numbness gone and head was better, just felt like a hangover.
never had this happen when at that stage.

We avoid certain Baton Rouge hospitals for that reason. It's usually only one doctor at that particular ER, but he's on a mission...
We have the Zomig nose spray, and that works great if she catches them early.
The Imitrex home injections work good sometimes. They seem to kick in faster than the oral Imitrex.
Topomax turned her into a zombie. That's some strange medicine.
Useful Imitrex Information
We get the 100mg dose of Imitrex, and cut the pills in half.
From Imitrex website:
quote:
Doses of 50 mg and 100 mg may provide a greater effect than the 25-mg dose, but doses of 100 mg may not provide a greater effect than the 50-mg dose.
quote:
In 1 of the 3 trials, there was a statistically significant greater percentage of patients with headache response at 2 and 4 hours in the 50-mg or 100-mg group when compared with the 25-mg dose groups. There were no statistically significant differences between the 50-mg and 100-mg dose groups in any trial. The results from the 3 controlled clinical trials are summarized in Table 2.

50mg and 100mg are almost the same.

Did a search and bumped. I get migraines usually once every nine months or so (thankfully...my heart breaks for the people that get these things once a month/week) that last the rest of the day. Yesterday's was particularly bad. I have migraine with aura, will probably go to the physician soon to get some kind of acute treatment when they hit.
