SHE53 is the first model in lineup after the ascenta series..around $700...full stainless interior, American built (North Carolina), and American platform for larger capacity compared to ascenta series which is also not as quiet and not full stainless interior...if you can hold out another week, there will probably be Bosch national promotion for labor day...I agree with Napoleon that Bosch is the best value out there...just remember you must use jet dri or you dishes will not dry...the more expensive models will not clean any better..just different cosmetics, negligibly quieter, and possible rack system difference but not worth extra $$..

Samsung are not built to last. I've never gone wrong with a whirlpool appliance.

I've got a Bosch that's less than a year old. Yep, it's quiet. And it doesn't dry the dishes no matter what settings I've tried. Afterwards it becomes a large drying rack for half a day or so. Would not buy again.
And it was a top pick from Consumer Reports. And they've been getting hammered for making recommendations that save the planet rather than help the consumer. So fack them too.

If you are using Jet Dri and your regular (non-plastic) dishes and glasses are not drying, call authorized Bosch service out under your 1 year factory warranty at no charge.. Bosch wants you happy! I have literally sold over 200 Bosch dishwashers, and when my clients called with this complaint, jet dri resolved 99 per cent of drying issue..bosch service handled the other 1 per cent...good luck..
PS..I had pick of any brand I wanted and I own Bosch with my money...

Unfortunately it is government regulations that screwed up ALL dishwashers...low water use restrictions is causing minimum normal wash time of over 2 hours..mandating the removal of phosphates from detergent is causing the spotting on dishes..if your glasses are spotting, Lemi-Shine is the miracle cure.. I agree, it has made my job muich more difficult..it is all about setting proper expectations now...same issue with newer washing machines..

Ok, a couple of questions.
1) if I run the dishes at night, when I wake up, they will be dry anyway, but if I want instant dry, use jet dry correct? (Sorry, I'm really ignorant here?)
2) Where should I go to purchase one of these? Box store/Amazon/Sears outlet?
3) how easy is install? I can YouTube and follow directions very well.

I try and try and tell people to put the money into the older machines. I even slash labor rates for tougher jobs sometimes to try and get people to keep the old ones.
A dishwasher with a cal-rod heater will always dry better than one with an air heater or a surface heater.
The newer pumps are tiny, the old ones were 3/4 HP.

Jet dry mainly keeps the water spots from forming.
Having really hot water is the key and where most people mess up. You should always always run your sink until the water is scalding before you turn on your dishwasher to make sure the water is hot.
Install is easy on pretty much all dishwashers. I always say to use a flexible water line instead of a semi-rigid copper line. I do notice in most higher end houses they have the copper, but that makes install and working on it such a PITA.

I have all copper. It's a birch and I hate it, but it's there. I would like to replace with flex so I can pull out the fridge to clean behind there.
With copper, will I have to heat it to connect to the new appliance?

no, it's a compression fitting, you just need to unscrew it. You only have to heat/solder rigid copper.

Ok, thanks, I'm sure I'll have more questions when I got to install. Last question since you are here, should I bother replacing the board on the whirlpool or buy a new one?
Best price? Where should I look?
For the board and/or new washer

Bosch hands down the best

There is a reservoir in door (part of assembly where you place your detergent..Finish allin one detergent tabs recommended )that you periodically fill with jet dri..Finish rinse aid recommended. The rinse aid will be dispensed every load automatically. There will be a red indicator light illuminated when jet dry reservoir needs refilled. Do not hand wash your dishes before you wash your dishes...
Print out dishwasher detail sheet from best buy or hh Gregg website..take to Lowe's and they should beat bb price by 10 percent..if you install yourself make sure you have drain hose mounted at proper height...#1 self install issue..
I would never buy an open box dishwasher as there is no way to independently verify history on an out of box unit.. most open box units are repaired return items...

Find your model number, then go to "sears parts direct .com" and enter the model number in the search field. Locate the control board and get the part number for it. Then google that part number, check the online listings. Cheapest will always be a refurb from Ebay, but cheapest that is secured would be Amazon and they have a huge selection of control boards.
It's a super simple diy job, you can find diy videos online. as long as a dryer isn't on top the washer you could get it done in fifteen minutes.
Looking at $150ish most likely for board online.

with Bosch, if you always select the Sanitize option, it gets that last rinse really hot and that helps drying,

We had a Samsung that did the same thing and made the same decision. We went with a kitchen aid over a Bosch. I would take a chance on a Bosch if I had the chance again.

We had a KA Superba and it caught fire!! We have had a Bosch now for about 6+ years and love it. CR had a write up on dishwasher fires about the same time as our fire.

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I got a Bosch. I couldn't wait for the labor day sale, because i need to wash dishes for a few family members who got flooded and now also do not have a dish washer. Sear's gave me the best price, but Best Buy matched it and gave me a gift card. All said and done I save $180 off the MSRP, so I can't complain.
Thanks again everyone.
Thanks again everyone.

Best Buy should have a 30 day low price guarantee...you could always check Labor Day prices if you have nothing better to do and maybe pick up an extra fifty bucks..I deal with price matching after the fact fairly regularly... especially around holidays...
