they just let over a dozen thugs off. why are people acting like they were arresting bawpaw patriots at a small town mardi gras parade? we all know what this is

It’s my understanding that questionable technology was used to make the arrests. It would most likely not be admissible and the searches might be unconstitutional.

This is when he wants to open his fricking mouth!?!?
Not during Allison Rice, not during Madison Brooks, not when those kids shot a man donating beads?
Now??? Now he feels it's his place?

Enforce the gun laws we have now and carry out proper sentences and we won’t need more laws

Carrying a concealed weapon without a permit is a crime in this state ! Also, I don’t believe you can carry even with a permit at parade gatherings.
Not sure on its effect or if in state constitution, but there is also a limitation on preeminence of state gun laws if passed by local governments before a certain date in 1985.
Whether one supports permitless concealed carry doesn’t mean they have to support DA picking and choosing what to enforce and not enforce especially while taking property away.
It’s not like the DA is 2nd amendment purist, so why is he letting these people off while still taking property like guns or carrying them was illegal?
Did they break the law? Then there should more consequences including facing charges. Did law enforcement break laws in how they discovered these people were carrying? Then there should be consequences for them.
Something seems off with how this has been handled by DA.

It should absolutely NOT be a crime in the FIRST place.
“Shall not be infringed”
Additionally, carrying at parades - if truly illegal - is insane! As long as a person isn’t intoxicated, what logical reason passes muster?
Same thing as “gun-free” zones at schools, etc.
That is when they are needed the MOST as an equalizing deterrent of potential lethal force, which sadly is the only possibility that makes it to the top-floor of these evil criminal’s brains.

A 25 year old black guy has just as much of a right to own a gun as a do. He also has a 4-5x greater chance of needing it.

I was right next to a guy who was arrested for carrying a gun. The NOPD did a great job apprehending the dude. Hardly anyone noticed the arrest. There were a ton of kids around and it’s crazy to think someone like that can walk away with no jail time. His family (I think) was pissed at him which was nice to see.

They’re letting thugs go with less than a slap on the wrist. I guarantee one of these dudes shoots somebody in the not too distant future

Is it not common knowledge that it is illegal to conceal carry a gun at a parade?
The method they used to locate it is another issue, but they are breaking the law.

Curious how that type technology would be questionable in the legal world. It's no different than drug dogs or DWI technology.

Doing them a “favor” by not letting them keep their guns. Sounds like legalized theft to me.

You're right. Tourists have probably never heard of Mardi Gras.

Just asking a question to clear up some confusion. You mention that it is illegal to conceal carry a gun at a parade. You then post what I assume is the law that says it is illegal to carry a concealed handgun in any of the following. # 9 is a parade or demonstration for which a permit has been issued by a government entity. Is “At” a parade the same as “In” a parade? Has it ever been determined whether or not someone who is watching a parade while carrying concealed considered to be in violation of the law or is it only someone who is actually participating in the parade? Would like to know if anyone has a good answer.
