Go to Casamento's whether your like Oysters or not. It's amazing.
Seriously. Get the loaf (sandwich) or the stew (chowder), or just gulp them at the bar. It's an amazing place.

Both Emeril's and Delmonico are favorites of mine. People tend to think Emeril = tourist. The food is delicious. I loved my last experience at Delmonico. Delmonico is more fine dining. Emeril's serves lunch.
dafuq.
Emeril's places are definitely for tourists. They aren't particularly good.

And as for the tourist "debate"...
Do the touristy stuff ONCE for a few minutes. See Bourbon Street. Walk down it. Then never go back to it.
There are other places in the city that are much more fun and cool and not as shitty.
But you do need to see those places.

An evening at Fat Harry's/F&M Patio bar is about as non-touristy as it gets.

Why non touristy things? There is a reason tourists go to certain places.
And news flash: your sister and friends are tourists no matter where they end up going.
