I am sure you can buy a pair a day up there working in the office making that kind of money. I damn sure wouldn't let that deter me from buying a pair.

Red Wings for sure, especially if you're gonna be playing in the water a lot. I've put mine through hell, as long as you don't let them sit outside when wet they'll last at least a year; and hey, the company will buy you a pair every 6 months anyway.

Also, Ariat makes a very comfortable steel toe; I have a pair but I haven't given them too much hell yet. New company bought me some nice Carhartt boots, I think I've only worn them three times. I'll let ya'll know how they hold up in Colombia when I go in mid-May.

I also have a pair of Double H (not steel toe) that I wear as my errday shite-kickers.

Maybe I got a few bad pairs, but after reading online about Red Wing problems, I didn't have an isolated experience. I will never own another pair

Red wing soles go out too fast, but they are the best boot.

I have been wearing twisted x for over four years and will continue. I have a giant foot, so I can't find every brand, but they are the best fit, for me, and hold up the longest so far.

My only gripe is that the soles are too rigid. Great support all day, but when you climb ladders it's almost too stiff to feel the rung. On wet days the rung will sometimes slip into the heel notch if you mis step. Every shoe has the sliding scale of comfort and durability, but these fit me the best.

I wear Ariat steel toe with the red top. I've been pleased with them so far.

I used to wear Ariats but have gone to Danner's. I wore them in the Marines and never failed me and still have no problems with them.

The soles in the Red Wings are going out quickly.

I have a pair of Ariats but not a big fan. Rockys right now seem to be the route I might try.
