Coincidentally, Opelousas also has the largest population of ________ in Louisiana.

IMO, Lake Providence and it's not even close
Last time I was there, 1/2 the businesses in town were either vacant or burned down and never rebuilt. East Carroll Parish is the poorest Parish in LA. Does anyone know if the German Bakery in town ever re-opened ?
Lake Providence has no public parks or swimming pools, no movie theaters, no shopping malls, not even a McDonald's or a Wal-Mart. In fact, business in Lake Providence, Louisiana, is so bad that even the pawnshop has shut down.
"The only recreation we have, " says a resident, "is poor people's fun: drinking, drugs, fighting and sex."
Restless teenagers mill around narrow streets lined with burned-out houses and dilapidated trailer parks.

Anybody driven through that area of point coupee and st. landry sort of northeast of Opelousas on La. 77 and La. 10? Roads are god awful, almost un-driveable, and a bunch of absolutely raggedy democrats living in squalor falling down drunk and riding bikes in the highway. Worst place I've ever been through in rural Louisiana bar none.
