I paid for a Troy plate for years. It was an extra $50 that went to scholarships. Personalization was no extra if you had a specialty plate. I stuck my initials and grad year on there.

There use to be this game show called bumper stumpers.
It was the shite! To bad most personalized plates just say "Peaches" or "Tom's" or "Jones 4"
For the most part, I'd say personalized plates are trashy.
It's not the $50 per year , that's about a dime a day. It's the need for attention that makes it trashy.
Not to mention, they normally say really stupid things. Put it this way, my 15 year old self wanted to put "TooSlow" on my Trans Am....
so yeah --- trashy.
