Bamaal OT Porsche owners question I drive a Boxster, and have it on good authority from my mechanic who's been servicing Porsches for 30+ years, that using them as daily drivers is actually preferable! It's a very reliable machine that was designed to be used...most of the problems experienced in low mileage models are due to they're sitting up unused. Especially within the drivetrain, and bearings in which lubrication is achieved only while driving - if the car sits idle to long rust is prone to develop leading to premature wear.
Agreed

You had me up until that - 3 seconds isn't bad statement.

Audi R8. Comfortable, reliable, avg 16mpg for a car that goes 0-60 in ~3secs isn't bad either.

I have a '01 996 that I use as a daily driver and average about 25k miles a year. frick comfort, I'm driving a Porsche. As stated, they are made to drive. I have had to do very few repairs on my car but I maintain it to the letter.
I also test drove a Macan the other day with a friend....nice ride if you want a crossover.

Internally in the engine?
How long does it have to sit? 10+ years?
I've cracked open engines that havent run in decades without any rust. Now, if you had a leak in a channel or blown head, etc., I can see that.

It's fast as hell, but for the Turbo you're looking at $80k+ for a small crossover. I'll wait until they're a bargain, CPO.
I definitely can't swing the cash for the Turbo, but the S isn't tooooo much slower and it's a lot more affordable

I'm confused as to why that would put you off. (Unless you meant I was understating it, which I was)
It has a great ride and the only car even close to its performance in the price range is the Nissan GT-R, which has a terrible suspension for city driving. Sounds like the best of both worlds to me.

I'd be more worried about the rubber and the gaskets if a car sits too long.

I ended up with the Audi SQ5 which is built on the same chassis. It's a blast to drive. The wait around here was too long for the Macan. I can see myself getting the next iteration of the Macan Turbo.

For $60K you can get a 460 hp Vette, with a mostly aluminum chassis. I think for $90k you can get the new Jag with the supercharged engine. Probably doesn't handle like the Audi, but probably not far off.
For $70k you can get a Mustang Boss or new Challenger Hellcat, both with 600+ HP. Neither great in the turns, but neither are bad in the turns.
For that kind of cash, you can also get an Elise, which handles as good as anything.

OT Porsche owners question My 2009 911 Carrera (997) is comfortable as a daily driver.
Do you have the PDK? I would want that for sure, what is your opinion.

Sorry I was kidding. The V8 version shows 0-62 kmh at 4.2 and I smoked one. The the V10 plus is indeed fast but priced into 911 turbo territory. Audi is a great car and I would love to have one. It's just a matter of what you like.

Yes. Drive the tires off it. They're made to drive every single, there-is-no-substitute day. Just keep it clean, please.
Seriously; wash it.

I don't think that car is ever going to shake that image.

Mine is just an old-school stick (6-speed). I just can't imagine driving a sports car without a stick - especially on the track. However, I've never driven anything else, so it's just a personal preference.

Of course, especially the newer ones. Older models were beasts to drive in the rain, but the last two generations are much softer and more forgiving. Really only the GT3 and GT2 aren't daily drivers now.
This...exactly.

God, you are such a douche. You drive a fricking Lexus LS. Are you a Jewish Grandmother?

BUT...the Macan S is also a Turbo and will do 0-60 in 5.0 seconds. That is pretty damn fast, and it can be had in the low $50K range.
I built one online and couldn't get a desirable for anywhere near that $50k - more like 70. You have to have the Premium Plus package, and the 20" wheels, and the full leather, and the crest in the headrests, and the sport chrono package...

Correct. A properly trimmed out Macan S is pushing $70k.
Gotta have PDK too. They were pricing out about $68k for me.
