How the hell are you going to convince someone you aren't close to, to seek mental health treatment?
Do you know how many people won't go even with family members trying to convince them?
well they sound like horrible people

Agreed, and I'm normally the first to play devil's advocate on this type of thing. I obviously am not advocating just skipping the trial and lining up the firing squad, but there's just too much here for me to think he happened to bump into a covert feminist operative hell bent on destroying an innocent man.

He was charged based on physical evidence, yet a poster just stated it's still equally likely she's making this up. That's the basis for many peoples' defense of this guy, that the two possibilities are equally as likely, when they clearly are not. Even removing the character accounts as just rumors, how is that a straw man?

you are taking what character accounts based on people from on internet forum, which means you might be attacking something that might in reality not be there

I was sad not to see more Jake Witz horror stories, so I created an account just to share.
Jake and I started as comp sci majors in 2010. Comp sci was a small group so everyone was friends or at least friends of friends. This meant Jake showed up at a lot of the same places my friends and I were.
My first recollection of ever really noticing him, he was telling our group that once, immediately after their break up, he was at the same party his ex was at. She made out with a guy in front of him to piss him off, so he punched her in the face because "he doesn't care about hitting girls."
Another party, he "stole" some of those shitty tiny bottles of liquor from the gas station apparently. He was bragging about it, but he gave it to a friend of mine to hold. Well, my friend didn't like him and gave it away. Somehow, Jake got word that one of the girls that was with us "took it" so he walked around telling everyone he was going to "shank her."
At a third party, I was playing DD for a group of girls. He was trying to hook up with one of the girls I was DD'ing and was interested in. I kept telling him to back off because she was too drunk and it was time to get her home. He kept telling me to take advantage of her, and that "if I didn't make a move he would." So we left.
It got to the point we'd have to very quietly and carefully make plans and tell people not to bring Jake, but he'd still make his way about. Like a lot of people have mentioned, he didn't really pick up on queues that we didn't like him. One night he'd be treating you like his enemy and then try to be your best friend the next day. He always felt like he needed to be the center of attention. One day I was catching up with a friend I hadn't talked to in a few months. Jake came up, interrupted us, and kept trying to introduce himself. She kind of just blew him off, and he later raved to me about how much of a bitch she was.
Months later, I had made some kind of post on facebook that proved controversial when he got in a fight with my aunt about how pointless having children was and how religion is pointless blah blah blah. (Basically, she thanked god for blessing her with a child because she had fertility problems and he started publicly berating her.) I deleted him and told him I wasn't going to tolerate his petty misogyny and uncalled for outbursts and to pick his fights somewhere else, and to stop being a tough guy behind his keyboard. He responds "dude, im more mature than that lady will ever be, i apologize that you are related to her. woah, not fb freinds anymore, waht a pussy." So I told him it's not that I'm a pussy, he just doesn't know her and I'm tired of putting up with his attitude and I'm not phased by his tough guy act.
I didn't see him for a couple of years but he switched to the college of business too and I ran into him in the halls a couple of times and he always acted like we were friends and wanted to stand around and catch up. My last semester I was lucky enough to have him in one of my classes. He sat next to me with his obnoxious bags of body building meals talking to me like we'd always been pals bragging about how he was entering into all these body building competitions. I started sitting on the other side of the class because he spent the hour making loud comments and being generally offensive to everyone. At the end of the class students were being rude to the teacher on the public moodle forum and I took up for him. Jake replied, to the class, out of no where, "screw you restartyourpc."
Hopefully that's the last time I've had to deal with Jake Witz. Knowing him for 4 years, he's always been a real champ.
Seriously, frick this kid.

How do you know what he was charged based on?
quote:Based upon the info we have, they are equally as likely. There was another poster who said he knew the girl and said that she had a boyfriend whom she had told she had deleted her Tinder account.
yet a poster just stated it's still equally likely she's making this up

He was charged based on physical evidence,
well if her account is true (the bathing), there probably wasn't much physical evidence. if there is blood, i doubt they had enough time to get much more than blood type (if they would even piecemeal it). the vast majority of this investigation at this point is her statement
and her statement/story is the big area of discussion
and everyone (except rocket trolling) has said if her story is true, he raped her
quote:

one guy said this, and you're turning that one statement into an assumption about the discussion
again, strawman. you're creating that argument...just like people who have attacked those discussing the scenario (especially in general), while ignoring people stating in clear terms that if she's not lying, he raped her
quote:
Even removing the character accounts as just rumors, how is that a straw man?
one random poster in 30+ pages does not =
quote:

you've created that argument for people to argue against when it's incorrect. that's a strawman
Posted on 7/28/14 at 8:54 pm to TheDrunkenTigah
Wait. Weren't YOU the one that said she's just as likely to be making it up?

Or he's just arguing to argue and forgetting what position he's taken

If I was a prosecutor, they'd have to make me draw the short straw to get the responsibility of prosecuting this.

Well thankfully it's ultimately up to a jury of his peers
