Take prison rapes out of the equation and report back.

Exactly.
Jake. You say you were raped by a woman? Most people would not take that claim seriously.

This one does.
first
quote:
Serious violent crime (defined as rape or sexual assault, robbery, or aggravated assault) was less likely to go unreported to the police in 2010 than in 1994.
second
quote:
From 2006 to 2010, a greater percentage of victimizations against men (55 percent) than women (49 percent) were not reported to the police.
lastly, (and my response to these arguments in general)
is murder the outlier crime?

why would you do that?

it's not my fault that society is sexist and filled with double standards

Didn't say it was. Just stating a fact.

First, why are we talking about murder now?
Second,
You skipped this.
Also, 55% and 49% are both despicable and sad.
Second,
quote:42% is still huge.
The percentage of unreported serious violent victimizations declined from 50 percent in 1994 to 42 percent in 2010
You skipped this.
quote:
On average, an estimated 211,200 rapes and sexual assaults went unreported to police each year between 2006 and 2010. Although serious violent crime was generally less likely to go unreported to the police than simple assault, a higher percentage of rape or sexual assault (65 percent) than simple assault (56 percent) victimizations went unreported over the five-year period.
Also, 55% and 49% are both despicable and sad.

people who love to attempt to detract from the great crime decline since the 80s love to post that same argument. it's bullshite, though, when you look at the murder rate. if you argue crime isn't going down (and only looks that way via stats) b/c people aren't reporting crime, then murder is the one crime that has fallen drastically. it's an outlier. the only outlier

Woh, woh, woh . I never said crime was not going down. It was underreported then and it is underreported now. You can still have a decline.

Because being in prison greatly increases your chances of being raped and given there are hundreds of thousands more men getting raped in prison than outside of prison your claim that there are more men raped that women is swayed.
This stat doesn't include prison rape:

that's typically the justification for those studies. just letting you know

that's the claim, but i don't even think there is legitimate statistical data to justify the historical claims

so all rapes are not equal?

No. Criminals aren't people

You are a smart guy. I know you understand that people have a hard time believing that a man was raped by a woman.

Are people really disputing that men get raped?
Rape of men is way more unreported than rape of women are and it's almost strictly because of social stigma. People refuse to believe this because it forces people to think that men are not these strong creatures. Force isn't the only way people rape people.

fyi
1/4 of rape claims are false?
quote:
They stated, "Every year since 1989, in about 25 percent of the sexual assault cases referred to the FBI where results could be obtained, the primary suspect has been excluded by forensic DNA testing. Specifically, FBI officials report that out of roughly 10,000 sexual assault cases since 1989, about 2,000 tests have been inconclusive, about 2,000 tests have excluded the primary suspect, and about 6,000 have "matched" or included the primary suspect."
The authors continued, "these percentages have remained constant for 7 years, and the National Institute of Justice's informal survey of private laboratories reveals a strikingly similar 26 percent exclusion rate."
If the foregoing results can be extrapolated, then the rate of false reports is roughly between 20 (if DNA excludes an accused) to 40 percent (if inconclusive DNA is added). The relatively low estimate of 25 to 26 percent is probably accurate, especially since it is supported by other sources.
i'm not just inventing this stuff out of thin air
quote:
Third, the 1-in-4 figure has 'fuzzy' aspects that could influence the results. For example, Neufeld and Scheck mention only sexual assault cases that were "referred to the FBI where results could be obtained."
It is not clear what percentage of all reported assaults are represented by those cases. As well, the terms 'rape' and 'sexual assault' are often used interchangeably, especially when comparing studies, and it is not clear that they are always synonyms for each other.
Nevertheless, the FBI data on excluded DNA is as close to hard statistics that I've found on the rate of false accusations of sexual assault.

Yeah, I've seen that. The numbers for false allegations are all over the place.
