This is a common complaint of older hippies and OG stoners. The newcomers simply say smoke less but they don't have the relevant perspective to understand it isn't that easy. The old strains that produced the mellow high the hippies enjoy just aren't around. Even when you can find Panama red and Acapulco Gold etc they have been grown in a way (good light and lots of nutes) that changes the active chemistry to the point they are not just more potent but produce a different high which is even more true for the "modern" strains that have been developed around higher THC levels.
