It's great for a bunch of guys like me. We'll travel in to Louisiana and make a shite ton of money building these data centers and power plants, and then we'll take our earnings back to our home states.
Enjoy the bigger power bills and stinky water.
So, you are criticizing a billionaire for economic growth and opportunity, then turn around with the above comments about “making a ton of
Money” and taking it to another state where you live in a perfect world all the while being negative about a state where you are fortunate to make a bunch of money. And, you have LSU in your TD name. Interesting!

His own state is shite and doesn't offer employment opportunities so he is coming to make a wage qualified people in the state won't work for.
Basically immigrant labor.

quote:Pretty sure that reviews show that onsite personnel is minimal.
I don't know what wages they will garner but there are a considerable amount of people who work at datacenters. The numbers rival some of the petrochem plants up and down the river.
Everything is offsite and once construction is done, the local impact is nonexistent.

Reviews also say they will go through 5MM gallons of water a day but that is a made up figure based on dubious sources (i.e. reddit)
I don't believe the ones in Louisiana have shared much info on final personnel. Or what the management will look like.

Generally, it is 8-30.
That doesn’t seem like it is worth the cost of its impact.
A normal, non-supercenter Walmart employs 2x that (if you consider the highest number being hired, 50).

A. If I do go work at that data center, it will be for a lot higher than the local wage scale, because I make more working out of my local than the guys in Monroe do in theirs.
B. Unlike Louisiana, my state doesn't have a shrinking population.
Louisiana is in trouble.

Ah, ok. I'll go back and edit my personal experience.

Is his experience incorrect?

As long as you pay your taxes and gtfo you are good in my book.

I would say it falls into the "it can vary" part of my comments.
Some data center campuses can be little more than security and a few ops guys. Some can be full campuses with support staff and office complexes.

That seems pretty stupid, IMO.

Come on. Use logic here.
I would agree with you if they built it in Silicon Valley or Austin, outside Albuquerque, etc.

Pretty much. Could swing it as "any jobs are good jobs"
I would just hope there are employment or performance clauses in whatever agreements. Knowing our politicians though....

That is a different type of BFE.

The H1Bs will be doing stuff remotely. They tend to shy away from any physical labor (pulling cable, racking servers, etc.) I think they're taught it's low value work because they graduated from University of Hyderabad, etc.
