I was doing 500mg/day minimum last semester, sometimes close to tests hitting 800 or 900mg/day. It was bad in that I couldn't function without a ton of caffeine. I had no issues cutting it down to 1 morning cup of coffee per day after the semester ended though and have been able to keep it there, with an afternoon cup some days when I'm really dragging arse and need to read a lot.

Serious question - why give up caffeine?

I can see giving up cream and sugar in your coffee (that's a very good idea) but brew a good black coffee and there's nothing wrong with it at all.

Good grief, it's caffiene, not heroin, or worse, nicotine.

You'll have a headache for the first 2-3 days.
Take Tylenol.

Also, tie a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankle so the ants don't crawl up and eat your candy arse.

I tried for a week but then my bowel movements became unpredictable. I like caffeine.

Cold turkey isn't a great idea IMO. Slowly wean yourself off of it and it will be much more bearable.

It'll help with that.

I was drinking 40-45 ozs of Dark Roast before 10am.
Switched to decaf (blended a few days first) and I noticed I went from Type A to Type A-.

Prayers sent bro, that's gotta be pretty serious. For real though it should be super easy.

DON'T DO IT!

For real though, use green tea pills. You won't get headaches, and you won't get addicted to the green tea pills like you do with caffeine.

I'll never quit caffeine. Working nights there are some nights I really need it to stay awake all night. Really no need to completely give it up imo. Even pregnant women can have a small amount of caffeine(equal to like one cup of coffee a day).

I cut out all sodas the day after Thanksgiving. At first it was hard not to drink a coke in the morning and there were s few slight headaches, as a result. But after you push through the initial temptation and go for a couple of weeks with no caffeine, it gets easier to do away with it for good. I drink nothing but water and milk now.

Good luck.

Why do y'all think soda is such a big source of caffeine? ?? It really barely has any. Your withdrawal symptoms might have as much to do with the pure shite used to make soda as the tiny caffeine content. Maybe the drop in sugar intake is what really makes you "feel better". Sugar also has a tendency to give you a high .

If soda is the primary source of caffeine, as it was for me, then regardless of the amount in each soda, giving it up isn't an easy thing to do.

I understand just the habit, but I really have to think the sugar was a big part of the difference when you stopped. Soda has so much sugar in it.

I'm sure you're right. There is a ton of sugar in those things. I'm glad I quit drinking them.
