Im not gonna lie...Salamoni needed to chill. Lake did good.
Yeah his life wasn’t on the line or threatened at that point. And that threat he made probably isn’t allowed
I believe deadly force was justified, but his approach wasn’t

I did not think this before, but After seeing the new video, he should be fired. He rolled up in there saying he was going to f’ing shoot him in the head if he moved and the guy was not aggressive at that point. His firing assures the family will be paid bigly.

LOL, all they need to do is show that video and he will be paying the family.
There is no way that guy should have ever been a cop. Way to agressive. No idea how to handle a situation.

If not, holding the gun to the back of his head while they were attempting the pat-down and arrest was excessive imo.
The reason they were there was bacause someone called 911 about a guy pointing a gun at people and he fit the description, right?

Why on earth do you believe this? At no point was there any indication of potential harm to the officers in that video.

I gotta say, that security camera footage is worrisome.
He wasn’t going down with the tasers but his hands were visible and the cops had a safe distance from him and were drawn on him.
If Salamoni had not gone in hard, they probably had him contained.

Then maybe Salamoni should have coached junior varsity football instead of becoming a cop, now shouldn't he? Adrenaline runs different for everyone, yeah...and this is why police candidates should be vetted more and paid more.
I am against everything Alton Sterling stands for and I am appalled at so many of the people in Baton Rouge who have taken this man's side. But that doesn't mean that someone else wasn't in the wrong as well.
But now I want to know more about John Young. And I also want to know how anyone can feel the same about Sterling...dude had a gun and had it out. So...the "planted evidence" idiots can shut up.

It's not exactly a great look for BRPD when Salamoni rolls up on the scene yelling "I'll shoot you in the head mother fricker!"
He should have de-escalated the situation. I’m not surprised Salamoni got fired. I don’t think he did anything criminal (not an attorney but That was poorly handled. I didn’t see the whole presser but I really didn’t see anything that Lake did that deserved to be suspended. He seemed pretty cool headed.

My thoughts exactly. Salamoni was wrong for rolling up like that, but sadly, Sterling did no better by failing to comply, and by having a firearm. Two wrongs do not make a right here.
ETA: Having heard the 911 call, I cant say I blame Salamino for rolling in like that. I still wish he could have approached the scene a little more professionally, but I understand being as high strung as he was knowing a gun had been reported.

They should have invited him into the store and all shared an 8 piece w/fries and some Koolaid. Afterwards they could have split a pie and sang Kumbaya.

When deadly force is actually used, it's legally justifiable. They see a gun in his pocket and are unable to control his hand that is reaching toward that pocket. That puts them in reasonable fear of death.

Because it’s already been determined by our justice system. The combative suspect had a gun and was reaching for it. Cops felt threatened, as any citizen would and this gives the right to deadly force

And everyone has a plan in a fight until they get rocked in the face. Fact is. You can't predict how someone will react in the real world based off of training.
Well, now that we know the Salamoni is incapable of handling himself correctly when his adrenaline kicks in, he was rightly terminated. Screw him.

Right. Whatever.
Not excusing Sterling for being non conpliant, but within the first 20 seconds, Salamoni is threatening to execute him if he doesn't comply. That's not how being a police officer works.

Guess he has his chance now. That tackle was in point. But like I said. There's simply no way to tell how anyone will react in such a situation until they're in that situation. You literally can't screen it out.
Whole thing could have been avoided if ole baw just obeyed orders.
