Start eating healthy and exercising and the craving will diminish.

Agree.

I have to disagree with you here though. The change has to come from within. A recovered alcoholic can go to tailgates, parties, hang out with people drinking.

I haven't drank since the return flight from my last vacation.
It sucked coming back to work this morning.

Any success stories? Looking for advice on how to completely kick the urge.
I was an alcoholic from age 13 to age 38. On December 31, 1991 I went out for my 25th New Year of alcoholic debauchery. When I came to the following morning, a voice in my head said, "You've had enough. I'm cutting you off, son." I haven't had a drink since.
So give God a ring. See what happens.

I haven't quit completely, but I've gotten it to a more or less manageable point.
a) You need to keep yourself busy. Find things that you like or want to do that you can't do while having a few drinks.
b) Try to examine what good comes from drinking alcohol. For me, it alleviates boredom and makes me like being around people more, but for a long while I would have would always get so drunk that I would say or do something stupid. Is that really worth it?
Then again, your post was pretty vague so I have no idea why you're trying to quit.

If you can't go a day, maybe two then you've gotta problem!! There are antibiotics to help w/ the cravings. You might need to seek professional help? Wrong crowd to ask about this!!

I began the change about a year ago. Cut back from 4-5 nights a week to the weekends. Then I cut back to only every other weekend.
Anyway, my point is that it changes who I am once I consume too much and it hurts my close relationships. I can't control it, and I become someone that I'm not. Since I am so close to cutting it out completely, I wanted to prove to myself that I can accomplish that goal.
I'm not against alcohol, or anyone who drinks a shite ton of it, this is solely to prove to myself that I can go without.

Try doing it for a pre-set period of time, like 2-3 weeks. At that point, assess the situation. Maybe you'll feel better physically, and the urge won't be so strong. Maybe at that point you won't feel like you need a drink, and then you can stretch it another 2-3 weeks. Etc.
Small goals are more feasible.

Winners never quit
Quitters never win
All that aside I'll say this.
If you can't control the drink and it Controls you, you need to quit.
If you can, why would anyone deprive themselves of a nice glass of wine, good cold beer or a solid whiskey?
